SET IN STONE
Leigh Price, Managing Director of Real Stone & Tile, looks at the 2018 trends for Marble, Stone & Terrazzo Tiles.
There are always new styles, colours and sizes of tile to choose from and it is easy to become over faced with the vast array available. Here are some popular choices that I recommend to my customers, to suit any style, in any home.
MARBLE Marble is bigger than ever and not only is this trend on our walls and floors, but marble-effect is now featuring on everything from wallpaper to cushions.
Synonymous with luxury and quality, marble is a firm favourite amongst Real Stone & Tile customers. Each tile is unique, featuring different colours and patterns, making your marble floor one of a kind.
As marble is a relatively soft material it does require a level of maintenance and care that should be considered before purchasing. The naturally porous material is prone to water damage from liquids such as red wine and coffee, which can leave permanent stains, whilst chips and scratches may appear, especially if the tile hasn’t been fitted properly.
Praised for its beauty and elegance, marble promotes the feeling of opulence throughout your home, whilst the stunning array of subtle colour creates a sense of light and space, beneficial for any property.
STONE Natural stone flooring is a popular choice for many home owners, I think the combination of durability and neutral colour ways make the tiles the perfect choice for busy, family homes.
Stone tiles also have a fantastic versatility, from rustic limestone to edgy slate, the range of colours and textures make them ideal for a variety of properties from traditional country cottages to ultra modern new-builds.
The long lasting material is a great choice if you’re planning to stay in your home for a long period of time. Stone is very hardwearing and can be used indoors and outdoors bringing the two areas together to create a seamless flow of space.
This premium style does come with a high cost, but the enduring quality is worth every penny.
TERRAZZO Terrazzo tiles, often seen in hotels or commercial buildings, are chosen for their long lasting nature and durability. The flooring is very hardwearing and impervious to water and stain damage, whilst if any cracks or chips do appear, they can be re-finished and polished to look as good as new.
With an amazing array of patterns and shades to choose from, these tiles are the perfect style to make an impact in your home.
