We can’t walk down a single street without seeing graffiti scrawled across a wall or gum dotted along the pavements. While an eyesore, and a difficult thing to prevent, at least there are some solutions available that not only work, but work well and effectively, as Demon explains.
Graffiti and chewing gum are a frequent fact of everyday life in most towns and cities across the country. A very visible anti-social menace that contributes to the greater picture of environmental crime that ruin our city centers and open spaces. Contract cleaners, Councils, property and facilities managers are looking at ways to remove graffiti quickly and effectively and Demon can help with a complete package for graffiti and chewing gum removal.
The chewing gum removal tool is a lance that can be interchanged with a standard pressure washer lance on Demon manufactured pressure washers. It can be used with either hot or cold water and is kinder to delicate substrates. The lance is made up of 18 micro jets which are focussed onto the gum and the gentle action peels the gum off the floor. The lance can be used with cold water but is quicker with hot water.
Babcock International is a leading engineering support services organisation. The Babcock team in London are one of many companies and Local Authorities across the Country who are benefitting from the Demon system and in particular the chewing gum removal tool. Alan Ives, from Babcock, explains: “We opted for a Demon Tempest hot water pressure washer to use in conjunction with the chewing gum
removal lance and are delighted with the new equipment. It works so well on removing chewing gum and as the most effective kit we had tried. It also allows us to easily swap lances to use as a pressure washer for other cleaning requirements.”
As part of the graffiti removal range, Demon have the Tornado Mini Bowser, a small portable pressure washer which is the perfect solution for the hard to reach areas of cleaning especially graffiti removal. David Walke, Sales Director at Demon, said: “Whilst working with so many contractors across the UK, who are now offering graffiti and gum removal, we have found that most of them have struggled to find the right equipment to use in narrow walkways or away from a water supply. The Mini Bowser provides up to 15 minutes of washing time away from source and tackles smaller removal jobs quickly and efficiently with the correct Democlean products.”
The Mini-Bowser works perfectly in conjunction with the EMIS (Environmental Media Injection System), which is designed to accurately dispense fine grade blast media such as Armex, to improve cleaning of difficult surfaces or where more aggressive cleaning is required.
The EMIS is commonly used with Armex sodium bicarbonate to help remove graffiti.

After applying Democlean Graffiti gel, the sodium bicarbonate gives a gentle scrubbing action to help remove offensive graffiti without undue damage to the substrate. The EMIS package not only provides the solutions and equipment for the removal but will provide nationwide demonstrations and training to personnel on how to use the system correctly.
