with the company. Staff turnover has always been positively low at Greyland, which is a sure sign of a company with not only a great business model, but great ethics and teamwork too. This is further supported by the fact that Richard has arranged for a minibus to take 12 members of staff to and from Stockport to the new factory every single day – a Managing Director who has a dedication to his business and to his staff.
I could tell from my tour that the Greyland factory is a fantastic place to work; with everything in action and running smoothly and all done by hardworking staff with smiles on their faces – and let’s be honest, we don’t see this every day, especially having just gotten used to a new factory after the move!
Everything was running to full capacity with pallets filling up in record time and orders being loaded on to waiting lorries, ready for dispatch. Another impressive factor was the level of stock Greyland is able to hold too, for future orders. While the general size of the place was impressive, I was shocked to find
that there was a further mezzanine floor for storage, which also gave a great view of the entire facility in action. Such high ceilings also mean that the space can really be used to its full potential, with more storage space and the capacity for larger tanks.
Away from the hub of the central factory and production area, I was able to have a sneak peak in to Greyland’s lab and labelling room. Short of sounding like something from Willy Wonka’s factory, the labelling room held labels of every colour imaginable, produced uniquely by Greyland - digitally printed in-house on vinyl labels. Greyland are the only company in the UK that print labels in this way and their labels are not only resistant to spills, leaks, and
general wear, but they are massively important on a health and safety perspective – in that no valuable information is lost from the label over time. These labels stick fast month-in, month- out, which is probably another reason why customers choose to stick with Greyland.
Now the company is completely settled in after the big move, it looks like, with turnover on the up, the capacity to produce even more products and all that extra space and high ceilings, that the sky’s the limit for the future!
