Cloud based customer service platform Zendesk is set to significantly expand its Irish team, hiring 300 additional staff and taking over 58,000 sq ft of Grade A office space in Dublin for its EMEA HQ. Colum Twomey, Vice President of Product Development has been there from the beginning and leads the Irish office: “It’s incredible to see how much we’ve grown over the last five years in Ireland. At the forefront of eHealth and telemedicine, online GP consultation company VideoDoc has been boosted by an investment injection of €2.5 million that will help to create 30 jobs over the next 12 months. Funds raised will also be allocated to the recruitment of GPs in Ireland and the UK to ensure that as the service grows, waiting time to see a doctor can remain at its current three minutes. Supporting the company’s new developments is former Tánaiste Mary Harney, who joins as Chairperson.

SUPPORTING SCHOLARS
Encouraging a new generation of women to take up a career in science and technology, Intel has announced it will continue to offer a number of scholarships to female school leavers entering specified four-year undergraduate degree courses in science, technology, engineering and maths. The programme offers a grant of €3,000 per annum, totaling up to €12,000 over the duration of the undergraduate programme, as well as work placements at one of Intel’s locations in Leixlip or Shannon. Each scholar will also be assigned an Intel mentor to provide advice on their academic career. The Intel Women in Technology scholarship programme has been running for more than 10 years and to date more than €1,000,000 has been invested in the initiative.
