NEW CLEANROOM GARMENT LAUNCHED

Dupont has launched a new Tyvek IsoClean ChemoGown. The Tyvek IsoClean range offers personnel in cleanrooms and controlled environments the reassurance of quality head-to-toe protection from contaminants, whilst maintaining comfort for the wearer. The model IC 703S 00 has been specifically designed for users requiring shielding from hazardous substances, and is PPE CAT III compliant. Created with comfort as well as safety in mind, the gown offers frontal protection with an open back; the extended length protects the lower legs and ankles, whilst the high collar shields the wearer’s throat and neck. An example of application includes cytostatic drug preparation, where the gown offers protection against the most common ingredients of cytostatic drugs.

Lab-on-a-chip drives search for new drugs

A tiny lab the size of a postage stamp could be the next big thing in the search for safer anti-clotting drugs to prevent heart attacks and strokes. The effectiveness of current anti-clotting medication can be limited due to the risk of complications, driving a need for alternatives that can both prevent the formation of blood clots and reduce the risk of excessive and life-threatening bleeding. The new biocompatible lab-on-

a-chip could help accelerate the discovery and development of new anti-clotting therapies. The technology has been developed by a team of

Pharma firm opts for Matrix Gemini

Pharmaceutical company Hemofarm, based in Serbia, has started a project with the Matrix Gemini Stability Management System from Autoscribe Informatics. Hemofarm is a member of STADA Group, one of the largest generic pharmaceutical companies in

the world. The Matrix Gemini Stability Management System will be for stability studies across Hemofarm’s rich product range of prescription drugs (Rx), over-the-counter medicines (OTC) and consumer healthcare products (CHC products). Based on the

Matrix Gemini Laboratory Management System, Matrix Gemini Stability helps to simplify the whole stability study management process, which can be complex and time consuming for multiple studies.

biochemists and engineers led by RMIT University and the Haematology Micro-platforms group at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases (ACBD) in Melbourne, Australia. It effectively shrinks a medical pathology laboratory onto a small chip, with automated processes that can achieve in a few minutes what could take days in a full-sized lab.

NEW MODEL OF PIPETTING INSTRUMENT

TTP Labtech has announced the launch of a new model of mosquito genomics, a low-volume pipetting instrument for enabling miniaturised molecular biology. The tool uses positive displacement technology to provide scientists with accurate and repeatable nanolitre to microlitre pipetting, irrespective of liquid viscosity or environmental conditions. Enhanced features make the instrument even easier to use, allowing academic and industry scientists to more effectively harness its volume miniaturisation and automation capabilities and overcome cost and productivity bottlenecks in molecular biology and genomics applications.
