liquids in laboratories is a challenge. Diaphragm pumps are the ideal tool for this difficult task. The new SIMDOS® 02 FT (full Teflon®) has been especially developed for the transfer of aggressive chemicals. To do this, the SIMDOS® 02 FT is fitted with a PTFE head, a PTFE- covered diaphragm, and chemically resistant FFKM Kalrez® valves. An optionally available Chemraz®-valve kit even allows using the pump with highly concentrated acids such as nitric, sulphuric and hydrochloric acids and solvents such as TFH, DMF, DMSO and MEK. The pump head is situated outside the splash-protected IP-65 housing, providing a very significant safety feature.

Also available with heads in PP or PVDF, the new SIMDOS® 02 FT dosing pump transfers liquids with a flow rate of 30µl to 20 ml/ min, and dose volumes of 30µl up to 999 ml. Following calibration, repeatability is +/-1% (full range) and the pump offers excellent long-term stability and consistent reliability throughout entire processes. The SIMDOS® 02 FT is safe to run dry and is self- priming up to 2 m. It is effective against pressures of up to 6 bar, and transfers viscous media up to 150 centistokes. The integrated software permits the transfer parameters to be modified for a range of different viscosities at the touch of a button. Thanks to its neat design and small footprint, the new SIMDOS® 02 FT dosing pump takes up very little valuable laboratory space.

Redesigned Vacuum Pump System with Increased Speed and Updated Features

The technically redesigned SC 920 G vacuum pump system features a new diaphragm design, ramp function and integrated gas ballast valve.

With the switch to a new diaphragm design, the SC 920 G has increased its flow rate to 1.26 m3/h. Its automatic and precise recognition and monitoring of the boiling point results in high recovery rates, even for solvents

with a low boiling point. The redesign has also introduced a gas ballast valve. By manually metering the supply of air, it is possible to safely prevent the condensation of vapour and keep moisture from remaining in the pump. The pump achieves a maximum ultimate vacuum of 2 mbar abs.

Manual Pipetting of 384-well Plates Made Easy

Once throughput increases and sample volumes decrease, users face a dilemma. The so-called ‘alternate well pipetting method’, which uses 8 and 12 channel pipettes to fill 384-well plates, demands intense concentration; furthermore, it is time- consuming and carries a high risk of error.

With their 16 and 24 channels, the new mechanical multichannel pipettes Eppendorf Research plus and the new electronic multichannel pipettes Eppendorf Xplorer plus can now tackle entire columns and rows of a 384-well plate in one single step. Up to 24 reactions may thus be started and stopped simultaneously. An entire plate can be managed manually within the space of a minute. In this way, the user will save time while at the same time improving the reproducibility of their results.

The system that comprises the innovative Eppendorf pipette tips epT.I.P.S.® 384 and ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S.® 384 will afford the user the utmost security. The unique SOFTattach technology utilises elastic forming grooves that contribute to a perfect tip fit as well as to a perfect seal of the system. The tip attachment forces could thus be reduced by an additional 40% per cone. An extremely fine tip shape that displays perfect coaxiality makes secure manoeuvring of samples into the tiny wells of a 384-well plate as easy as pie. With these innovations, the Eppendorf PhysioCare Concept® has once again achieved a significant leap forward, and even under conditions of increased throughput, the pipetting experience has now become even more ergonomic and comfortable.

The new products will be introduced for the first time at the Labvolution exhibition in Hannover in May 2019.
