Seal Analytical Invests in new UK Facility
Seal Analytical Appoints UK Sales Manager
Seal Analytical has announced the appointment of Nick Watson as UK Sales Manager. Nick has over 17 years of experience in the environmental laboratory sector, working in a variety of roles from Analytical Chemist to Group Technical Manager for some of the world’s leading analytical service providers.
Seal Analytical President Stuart Smith said: “Nick’s in-depth experience in methodologies and laboratory effi ciency will be of great value to our expanding customer base; we specialise in the delivery of bespoke analysers that have been confi gured to meet the precise needs of our customers, so Nick will be in an ideal position to ensure that customers get the most out of their equipment.”
Nick’s previous roles have included the management of UK and overseas laboratories that have a requirement for fast analysis times, high sample throughput, ultra-low detection limits and high reproducibility, so Nick already has extensive experience with the Seal Analytical range of automated discrete and segmented fl ow nutrient analysers. “I have always been aware of the advantages that these instruments provide, so in my new position, I am looking forward to helping the UK’s water, environmental and marine laboratories to exploit these advanced technologies,” he added.

In response to UK customer demand Seal Analytical has recently recruited new technical and sales support staff, and invested in new larger premises. The new Southampton facility includes a state- of-the-art method development laboratory, which will also be used for training and demonstrations, featuring advanced segmented fl ow analysers such as the AA3 and discrete analysers such as the AQ1, AQ2, and the new AQ400. The lab will also feature block digesters and automated sample/standards preparation equipment.
Increased warehouse space will provide a greater capacity for on-demand parts and consumables, and there will be a larger area for maintenance and repairs.
Welcoming the move, UK Sales Manager Nick Watson said: “This initiative is designed to further improve the levels of service that we provide; our growth is dependent on the relationships that we build with our customers and this investment will help us to ensure that we meet or exceed customer expectations.”

Seal Analytical Unveils new Automated Analyser at WWEM
The Seal Analytical stand (139 & 140) at WWEM 2014 will provide visitors with an opportunity to see the latest technologies in both automated
discrete analysers and
segmented fl ow analysers. The company’s expert staff will be on hand to help customers decide which method best suits their needs.
WWEM 2014 will be the fi rst ever UK opportunity to view the new AQ400 automated discrete analyser. The AQ400 has been designed to provide even greater speed and capacity, with improved reproducibility and greater fl exibility. The AQ2 discrete analyser will also be on display offering users minimal operator involvement and the ability to run many different chemistry tests from each sample in the same run.
For those laboratories that require fast, accurate analysis for very large numbers of samples, there will be an opportunity to see an automated segmented fl ow analyser (the QuAAtro for example can run up to 600 tests per hour).
In addition to automated nutrient analysers, Seal’s stand will also feature the Thomas Cain automated chemical addition, sample preparation and digestion systems. These instruments are employed throughout the world in the analysis of mercury and other metals in environmental laboratories.
