New Generation Particle Size and Shape Analyser

The new CAMSIZER P4 from Retsch is the systematic enhancement and optimisation of the well-proven CAMSIZER system for the determination of particle size and particle shape with Dynamic Image Analysis. Based on the unique dual camera technology the new generation offers improved performance and extended functionalities.

Compared to the previous model, the CAMSIZER® P4 boasts faster cameras with higher resolution, a stronger light source and new software features, resulting in even faster measurements and an extended measuring range. The improved resolution allows for more precise particle characterisation, particularly of small particles.

Both hard- and software have been revised. The software offers additional evaluation possibilities, such as separate storage of all particle images in a data base or 3-dimensional display of measurement results as scatter plots (3D cloud). New shape parameters for roundness and sphericity allow for optimised shape characterisation.

Well-proven functions like the certified calibration standard, the automated air flow in the measurement zone, and the motorised funnel height adjustment have been preserved in the CAMSIZER® P4. The obtained measurement results are accurate and reliable, even if operated 24/7, and can exactly reproduce existing sieving results.

Better performance, more functions: higher resolution of cameras and objectives

permits more precise measurements of particle size and particle shape (20 µm – 30 mm); faster hard- and software record more particles per second and provide more detailed information; 3D cloud: Easy evaluation of particle morphology thanks to 3D display of measurement parameters; particle library: Direct storage of images of individual particles; convenient administration of new particle library.

Powder Flow Issues?

Flow property measurements generally fall into two main categories: dynamic analysis and static analysis. Dynamic instruments measure fl ow properties as the test material is moving or is about to move. Static instruments measure powder that is not moving and typically has been exposed to pressure. For a complete picture of a material’s fl ow behaviour, both types of testers are required. For solving specifi c fl ow problems, usually one type of tester or test is required. Affordable instruments for characterising your powder fl ow requirements are now available in the UK from Meritics Ltd. Flowability, Caking , Fluidisation and Granulisation are some of the issues which can be studied with the Revolution and Evolution Powder Testing system. Contact us for more details.

Free Powder Sample Testing Evaluates Powder Behaviour and Flowablilty

Brookfield Engineering Laboratories offers free powder sample testing using Brookfield’s PFT Powder Flow Tester to characterise a powder’s behaviour and flowability. The testing determines Flow Function, Wall Friction, Arching Diameter and Bulk Density as a function of consolidation stresses.

Shear cell methodology is the technical approach used to test all customer samples in accordance with ASTM D6128, D6682 and D6773. Rathole diameter and Internal Friction Angle can also be provided at the customer’s request.

The testing is typically completed in less than a week and the results are emailed to the customer. These reports provide the customer with actual data that can be used to improve their process by characterising powders with flow aids, and serve as a reference for future powder formulations.

The first three Powder Sample Tests are free with a nominal charge for additional sample testing. Arrangements can also be made for customers to use the PFT at their facility for a one-week trial period.

Sample testing can be completed in any of Brookfield’s Powder Testing Labs, located in Boston Massachusetts USA, Harlow Essex England, Lorch Germany, Guangzhou China, and Mumbai India.
