7 Improved Range of Ductless Fume Cabinets and Hoods

Bigneat has announced a re-designed range of Chemcap ductless fume cabinets. Bigneat’s aims in the development of this new range have been to improve the usability of the well-known and popular Chemcap cabinet and investigate improving performance and safety. The resulting Chemcap Clearview cabinet design includes significant design changes and improvement in filtration.

This range features a new easy-to-use touch-button on/off control panel with incorporated service due indicator and audible low airflow. View of the working area is an unobstructed all-round 360º. ‘Tear drop’ shaped arm access apertures are provided in smaller cabinets and trapezium shaped access is provided for sizes above 1000mm width, front access flaps are lockable and face velocity is maintained at 0.5m/s.

High performance Chemcap filtration has been key to the success and low ongoing maintenance cost of Chemcap cabinets. Bigneat multi-purpose or universal filter (MP) should be selected when a fume cabinet is to be used for a variety of different procedures and handlings. However for best performance, when it is known what chemical compounds predominate, Bigneat’s chemist recommends choosing an optimised filter. This will give the best retention capacity and a long filter life. Optimised filters are manufactured for organics (OS), acids (H+), formaldehyde (F), ammonia (AM) and radioactive iodine (Ri). When certain fuming chemical compounds are handled or retention of particles is required then a Chemcap filter should be used in combination with a HEPA (HP) filter.

New Safety Storage-Cabinet Range for Storage of Flammable Liquids

A new safety storage-cabinet range from European market-leader asecos is now available. The look and construction of the cabinets make them more suitable than more conventional solutions for everyday storage of flammable liquids. In case of fire, the type 90 safety storage cabinets protect their contents from heat for a period of 90 minutes.

The new cabinets are available in widths of 60, 90 and 120cm. Their torsional rigidity has been improved by new construction materials as well as new construction meth-ods, making installation and transport of the cabinets much easier. An integrated base and a mobile transport aid, the ‘Q- Mover’, provide support during transporta-tion. Thanks to this base, even the 60cm-wide cabinets can be lifted stably by forklift truck. Using the Q-Mover, the 90 and 120cm-wide safety storage cabinets can be moved horizontally and vertically by hand. They can be manoeuvred through narrow doors and passageways without having to tilt them, or use other moving aids. The cabinets are also more secure, with a tamper-proof lock now installed in each door, so hazardous substances can only be removed by authorised employees. A red-green display indicates whether or not the doors are locked.

The safety storage-cabinets look particularly striking as, although the main body of the units is the standard charcoal colour, there is a choice of seven colours for the doors: white, pale grey, green, blue, silver-grey, bright yellow and red. The new, hard wearing, textured paint is more resistant to environmental factors and dirt.
