Heat Sealer Reproducibly Seals Microplates of all Types and Sizes
The new MiniSeal Plus heat sealer from Porvair Sciences operates with a very high force thereby ensuring high integrity sealing of deep well or even irregularly shaped microplates. Building upon the proven track record of Porvair's trusted MiniSeal semi-automatic microplate sealer – MiniSeal Plus offers users even greater comfort and safety in use, together with unmatched reproducibility in sealing microplates of all types and sizes.
Designed for ease-of-use and installation the compact MiniSeal Plus just requires plugging into a single electrical outlet to operate. Unlike larger and more expensive automated sealers the MiniSeal Plus does not require a compressed air supply to operate. Controlled through a splash-proof keyboard a MiniSeal Plus can be installed, up to temperature and sealing plates within minutes of unpacking. The compact footprint, about the size of a sheet of A4 paper, means that MiniSeal Plus will fit just about anywhere - on your lab bench or inside a fumehood if required.
Rapid heat-up time, a real-time display of the sealing head temperature, automatic plate head detection and pre-cut sealing films combine to simplify your microplate sealing. Drawer loading of microplates into the MiniSeal Plus is both quiet and eliminates the health and safety risks found with some heat sealing systems. In addition to accommodating regular microplates the MiniSeal Plus comes as standard with 2 plate adapters that also enable sealing of deep well and PCR plates.
The MiniSeal Plus is capable of producing an accurate and tight seal on any standard, deep well or PCR microplate from 3 to 48mm in height. Offering adjustable temperature heat-sealing from 50ºC up to 200ºC - MiniSeal is able to operate optimally with most foil and film seals.

UK Company Becomes Exclusive Distributor for Automated Capillary Electrophoresis System
VH Bio Ltd, one of the UK’s leading supply and distribution companies for the life sciences industry, has added a new instrument to its portfolio. The company has won exclusive rights from Advanced Analytical Technologies, Inc (AATI) to market the Fragment Analyzer™ Automated Capillary Electrophoresis System in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
With the capability of analysing 12 or 96 samples per run, the Fragment Analyzer™ allows for automated, rapid and accurate analysis of dsDNA fragments and RNA. By using a sensitive intercalating dye coupled with a powerful LED light source, the Fragment Analyzer™ removes the need for fluorescent labelled primers and can be used to separate intact genomic DNA, fragmented DNA, ligated DNA, enriched DNA, RNA (mRNA and total RNA) and NGS fragment libraries. It enables customers to streamline sample analysis by offering high sizing accuracy and superior quantification precision, coupled with a significant reduction in reagent preparation and minimal sample handling compared to manual processes.
The instrument features an automated capillary flush with fresh gel between every injection cycle to prevent sample carryover; the ability to run up to three 96-well sample plates unattended, with a capacity of 1,500 samples/day; the ability to switch between two different gel types automatically between injections, enabling multiple sizing ranges to be assessed from one run to the next; high separation resolution; and high sensitivity detection with a dynamic range for DNA smears of <50 pg/µL to >5,000 pg/µL.
The system offers multiple gel formulas for DNA and RNA applications including SSR/microsatellites; total RNA and mRNA; Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) libraries; mutation detection (TILLiNG); genomic DNA; large DNA (<40,000bp); and plasmid DNA.
VH Bio’s field team is available to demonstrate the Fragment Analyzer™. Contact VH Bio’s Molecular Biology Product Manager, Catherine Mair, or call to discuss how the Fragment Analyzer™ Automated CE System could benefit your lab.

Smart and Versatile Digital Multi Parameter Measurement in the Laboratory The inoLab®
These intelligent digital IDS meters offer the latest advancement in ‘Plug and Measure’ technology. The universal ports allow connection to the innovative, intelligent IDS sensors for pH, ORP, dissolved oxygen (DO) or conductivity. Each sensor contains model description, serial number, calibration history, sensor specific data like cell constants and much more – every data set is unique.
The password protected user administration provides perfect traceability of all values. The menu controlled user interface along with a large colour graphic display allows easy, error- free operation. Data can be transmitted for documentation via the USB interface or external printer and the measurement data can be transferred in .CSV format for easy processing using spread sheet programs.
The new inoLab models are perfect meters for use in laboratories where complete documentation is required such as quality assurance. They automatically record pH, conductivity or dissolved oxygen data with the internal data logger in intervals as short as one second.
