Effective Noise Risk Assessments
Don’t Let Pain Take Hold! Vibration Limits Measured
Directive 2002/44/EC deals with the determination of limits and action values, for the daily exposure to vibration. Two physiological domains are addressed: the “hand-arm” and the “wholebody” domains, the acceptable statutory values of which are specified. The experimental protocol, as well as indicators relevant for assessment, is defined in Standards ISO 5349-2 and ISO 2631-1. 01dB-Metravib (France) introduces a new portable instrument Vib008
that perfectly meets the requirements of this statutory application. This metrological instrument connected to a triaxial accelerometer is installed on site. Vib008 integrates a presence detector on the whole-body plate in order to activate subsequently the signal storage. Very simple to use, Vib008 is remotely controlled by the operator using a Pocket PC. This wireless remote control is used to manage measurement configurations (simultaneous “whole-body” and “hand-arm”), to start acquisitions (immediate, delayed mode) and to collect measured data for post-processing and archiving purposes, on several instruments at the same time … for a best prevention of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI).
Effective noise risk assessments require the accurate measurement of an individual workers exposure to noise. It is important to capture the ‘reality’ of their daily environment rather than one where an individual is very conscious of the fact they are being measured. Dosimetry provides an ideal framework to realise this aim. The innovative and comprehensive Model 22 doseBadge systems use small, lightweight and extremely robust units that are worn by the worker on their shoulder during their entire working shift. The unique shape of the doseBadge and fact there is no obvious microphone hide the fact it is a noise measurement instrument, eradicating the temptation of tampering or miss-use.
The Model 22 doseBadge has no display and a pulsing blue Led is all that can be seen (confirming that the unit is measuring). People quickly forget they are wearing it and can easily carry on working as normal. The unique shape and design of the doseBadge makes it the ideal measurement tool for even the most demanding application.
As you would expect from Pulsar Instruments, excellent software is included in each system allowing you to download your measurements and analyse a full days time history whilst quickly presenting your results in a variety of clear and informative report styles.

Portable Infrared Gas Analyzer for SF6 Tracer Gas Measurements
The InfraRan Analyzer -- a portable, mid-infrared specific vapor analyzer, designed for easy, on-site measurement of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), is available from Wilks Enterprise (USA). The InfraRanTM Specific Vapor Analyzer provides accurate, on-site, real-time measurements of SF6. It is factory calibrated for measuring SF6 in the 0 - 5 parts per million (ppm) concentration range with resolution to 0.01 ppm. The analyzer is ideal for fume hood evaluations as per ASHRAE 110, as well as determining airflow in ventilation systems, rooms and buildings. The InfraRan Specific Vapor Analyzer has been designed to be a rugged, field portable instrument, weighing under 18 lbs. It is ideal for both on-site survey studies and laboratory analyses.. The analyzer is factory calibrated for SF6 and operation is user-friendly via menu-driven software enabling certified industrial hygienists, as well as non-technical personnel, to obtain easy, accurate measurements.
The InfraRan Specific Vapor Analyzer has a internal rechargeable battery for up to 8 hours of continuous field use or it can be operated from a 110/220V power source.
