New Inhalable Particulate Sampling Head


Industrial Hygienists and Safety Professionals are required by certain regulations to sample for inhalable particulate, which is material that can be inhaled by a worker and deposited within their respiratory tract. To meet this demand Sensidyne (USA) introduces the IOM Sampling Head. The IOM inhalable dust sampling head was developed by the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Scotland to sample for inhalable particulate using a personal air sampling pump such as a Gilian 5000 or GilAir-3. When operated at 2 LPM it collects a dust sample that follows the particle size distribution as described by the ACGIH for inhalable particulate. For particles of 1 micron diameter, nearly all (97%) are captured by the IOM sampling head and collected onto the filter. For particles of 100 microns in diameter, 50% are collected onto the filter. This approximates the size distribution in the respiratory tract.

SV 100 integrated dosimeter for Whole-Body Vibration Measurements


Svantek (Poland) has announced the introduction of SV 100 a completely new, integrated Human Vibration Meter (HVM) & Analyser. This dosimeter is one of the first ever made complete HVM integrated with the triaxial “Seat Accelerometer”. SV 100 is equipped with a driver-presence detection sensor and user interface (display and push-buttons) for easy review and control of measurement state. SV 100 meets ISO 8041:2005 standard requirements and it is an ideal choice for the measurements according to the ISO 2631-1,2&5 standard. Instrument has all required weighting filters for the Whole-Body vibration measurements together with RMS, Peak, Peak-Peak, VDV, MTVV results. Moreover, using a computational power of its digital signal processor, the SV 100 instrument can perform real-time 1/1 or 1/3 octave analysis simultaneously to the meter mode. The time-domain signal recording (according to the ISO 2631-5) is also available as an exceptional option. Advanced time history logging, in non-volatile 64 MB internal memory, accomplishes the very powerful measurement capability.


The data downloading and instrument programming by the use of computer is easy and quick thanks to the USB
