IFAT Entsorga Opens it’s Doors for Business from 13th to 17th September in Munich, Germany

In view of the ever growing number of environmental trade fairs, IFAT ENTSORGA gives orientation to the sector, spanning as it does the entire
Messe München and the BDE, Bundesverband der Deutschen Entsorgungs-, Wasser- und Rohstoffwirtschaft e.V., (Federation of the German Waste, Water and Raw Materials Management Industry) have agreed on a cooperation coming into effect as of 1 January 2010: ENTSORGA will be moving to Munich, and IFAT will become IFAT ENTSORGA.
As part of the cooperation agreement with the Federation of German Waste Management Industries (BDE), IFAT ENTSORGA has a new subtitle. Effective immediately, it is the "World's Leading Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management".
Within this cooperation, the successful concept pursued so far at IFAT will be further expanded. In addition to the already comprehensive sections on water and sewage treatment, there will now, through ENTSORGA, be a stronger section on waste and recycling. It will provide greater coverage of the broad field of raw materials recovery and utilisation, for example, and the savings this brings in terms of carbon emissions, on the road towards achieving climate goals.

On the very first day of the fair – Monday, 13 September 2010 – the high-calibre international events programme kicks off with a truly first-class forum: the Water Finance Dialogue. The issues presented and discussed here will be the general framework and tools for financing the provision of water services, market perspectives for the provision of water and sanitation services, and waste-water management in selected regions around the world. The Water Finance Dialogue is being organised by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and the KfW banking group (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau). Invited to take part are representatives of international, national and regional development banks such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and representatives from government ministries and many international organisations such as the
OECD.The German Environment Minister, Dr Norbert Röttgen, will open the forum.
On 16 September 2010, top-level representatives from the United Nations will be opening the UN Water Centre and subsequent panel discussion on the subject of 'Increasing the Efficiency of Institutional Capacity Development in Water Management'.
Many presentations by exhibitors and associations will be held on all days of the fair in the forums in Halls A4 and B1. Here, product developments, trends and market analyses on themes covered by IFAT ENTSORGA will be featured in lectures and panels discussions.

IFAT ENTSORGA will have a much expanded palette of products, technology and services in the fields of water and sewage, sewer cleaning and maintenance, street cleaning and winter road services, and in the disposal and processing of waste and the recovery and utilisation of raw materials. International Symposium on Water, Wastewater, Waste, Energy, in cooperation with the Association of Municipal Waste Management and City Cleaning in the VKU (VKS im VKU), the European Water Association (EWA) and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA). This event presents a unique opportunity for international exchange of experience and for forging new contacts and cooperations reaching beyond the respective segments and state borders. This year for the first time there will be a 'Local Government Day', organised as part of the symposium. Coming together here on the first day of the fair, on 13 September 2010, will be representatives from local government from cities and municipal authorities across Europe to discuss ideas on water-management issues. The title of the session is 'Cities Adapt: Local Water Strategies in a Changing Climate'. Speakers and participants from around Europe will be taking part in the concluding panel discussion.
Other focal themes in the 15th International Symposium are the trade programme on sustainable water management, entitled 'New Strategies, Technologies and Innovative Solutions', and the ‘Sustainable Solid Waste Management’. All the events which form part of the above-mentioned symposia take place between 13 and 16 September 2010.
Among the issues being addressed at the fair by the BDE, the Federation of the German Waste, Water and Raw Materials Management Industry, are recycling, recovered paper, recovered timber and water management. On these topics the BDE is organising daily trade congresses which focus on the subject of Germany as a supplier of raw materials. The federation is also organising its annual general meeting for the first time at IFAT ENTSORGA. In the public part of this meeting, the BDE and its members, along with high-ranking representatives from industry, government and research, will be seeking answers to the question of 'What type of economic policy does Germany need after the crisis?'

record for attendance, with 2,605 exhibitors from 41 countries and around 120,000 trade visitors from 170 countries. From 2010 onwards Messe München and the BDE will be holding this event as a cooperation. IFAT will in future take place under the name of IFAT ENTSORGA, World's Leading Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management. The next event takes place at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from 13 to 17 September 2010. IFAT ENTSORGA is the world’s most important trade fair for innovations, new developments and services in the fields of water, sewage, waste and raw materials management.
