Siemens presents Sitrans P320/420, the first pressure transmitter on the market to feature remote safety handling reducing commissioning time in applications requiring functional safety. Via Simatic Process Device Manager (PDM) the safety integrity level (SIL) devices will be commissioned: rather than manually attending to each individual device across the facility, operators can commission transmitters from the control room. This next generation of pressure transmitters was developed according to IEC 61508 standard for the use in SIL 2/3. Significantly lowering maintenance costs could be expected as these transmitters have an increased proof test interval over other devices on the market.

The HART7 Sitrans P transmitters are ready for plant digitalization, giving users indepth control and analysis through new data logging functions and event control. The devices’ reduced response time increases process efficiency by speeding up the control system’s response to changing process conditions.

With measuring ranges from 20 mbar to 700 bar, depending on the device, these new additions to Siemens pressure portfolio provide reliable results even under extreme conditions. The devices are especially suited for applications where safety is critical: in industries such as chemical, oil and gas, and power generation. VEGADIF 85, a differential pressure transmitter developed especially with safety in mind, is VEGA’s new component for reliable, continuous control and monitoring of industrial processes. Its strengths lie not only in functional safety, but also in the option of measuring differential and static pressure simultaneously with just one instrument. Contained in a compact single- chamber housing, the transmitter is designed for economic efficiency and installation with low space requirements. These features are flanked by particularly simple, intelligent operation: Which is a real plus in terms of error avoidance.
VEGADIF 85 is now qualified and approved according to SIL-2 (SIL-3) for manufacturing processes that depend on certified components, simple, user-friendly operation and permanently transparent processes. It can be adjusted conveniently via cable connection as well as wirelessly via Bluetooth. Its measured values can be integrated into the existing processes in no time at all – always in a form suitable to the respective conditions and requirements.
The electronics used in VEGADIF 85 are 100% intrinsically safe and flameproof according to ATEX, IECEx and CSA. This means that the pressure transmitter can be safely adjusted at any time, even during operation in hazardous areas.

Ralston Instruments introduces the USN line of 70 MPa Quick connect micro bore hoses and adapters. These are a great accessory for pressure calibration or pressure testing where time is of the essence. The Quick-connects are push-to-connect and release with a sleeve that can be released like a standard industrial quick-connect. The difference is that when the pressure gets above 350 kPa the Quick-connect is locked in place and cannot be disconnected until the pressure is vented, preventing accidental release under pressure.

Developed for military purposes, the USN line consists of Ralston high pressure light and flexible micro bore hose. Adapters are all precision machined from 316 stainless steel in the USA to military standards. Adapters are available in both male and female NPT, male and female AN/JIC 37° flare as well as male and female High Pressure coned and threaded connections. Dust caps for adapters and dust plugs for Quick-connects with hanging rings are available also.
