Analytical Instrumentation Space-saving high fl ow hydrogen gas station
The Intelligent F-DGSi H2 gas station high fl ow generator saves space and eliminates the risks associated with storing high pressure cylinders, but also the hidden costs associated with piping connections, manometers, ordering, renting, delivering, servicing and maintaining cylinders.
The F-DGSi Hydrogen gas station high fl ow series i-FLOW -H2 STATION is able to generate up to 10 L/min Hydrogen with purity better than 99.9999% and pressure up to 16 bar (232 psi). The i-FLOW-H2 STATION 10L (3 modules of 3.3 L/min) includes the new long life multilayer electrolytic cell with polymeric membrane (PEM) using distilled water.
The innovative gas drying system with automatic regeneration ensures the maximum grade of hydrogen purity, and is completely maintenance-free and allows continuous operation, 24 hours a day.
The exclusive cascading option allows combining multiple units for higher fl ow requirements.
The system’s internal self-diagnostic features, high visibility lighted display, internal/external leak detection and all the remote control and alarm capabilities increase lab safety and productivity.
The exclusive safety on the market to use H2 as carrier gas: don’t be afraid anymore to use H2 gas as carrier gas: thanks to our H2 sensor controlled by our H2 generator: in case of any leak inside the oven of the GC, the H2 generator will stop to produce.
The unique Remote PC monitoring in standard via RS232/RS485, USB, LAN allows to interface the unit with customer’s PC software (allows the end user to be connected with the manufacturer for remote diagnostics).

profi tability in fuel testing PAC proudly introduced the new Phase Technology DFA-70Xi. A 4-in-1 diesel analyser measuring cloud point (ASTM D5773), pour point (ASTM D5949), kinematic viscosity (ASTM D7945) and density (ASTM D4052). European Lab Services (ELS)is pleased to announce to be fully capable of performing verifi cation for this instrument according to ISO 17025.
This verifi cation boosts the productivity of an analyser: the result accuracy and traceability is guaranteed, any discussion concerning the results is eliminated and the proactive verifi cation approach will reduce risk of downtime. Every step of the test procedure in the analyser is checked thoroughly compared to its test method.
The accreditation of ELS also extends to all other petroleum physical properties, cold properties, density and viscosity analysers in the market.
European Lab Services is the only company worldwide performing on-site ISO 17025 accredited verifi cation for petroleum analysers for petroleum testing.

44827pr@reply-direct.com New gas fi lters reduce GC costs and improve analysis
Phenomenex have introduced Zebron™ Gas Management Filters, which remove contaminants from carrier gas to reduce GC system downtime and column damage and deliver pure gas for maximum analytical sensitivity. These new cartridge-style fi lters are easy to install and use. A convenient color-coded indicator on the fi lter alerts the end user when it’s time to replace. New inline traps can further extend the lifetime of the gas fi lters for an added level of protection.
A new entry to Phenomenex’s product lines, Zebron Gas Management fi lters are offered in four types – oxygen, moisture, hydrocarbon and universal. The oxygen fi lter removes chlorine and sulfur in addition to oxygen, preventing oxidation of key system components. The hydrocarbon fi lter removes organic compounds, for improved detection, performance and quantitation. The moisture fi lter removes water, for improved detector stability and ionization of analytes. The universal fi lter combines the capabilities of the three specifi c choices, delivering worry-free fi ltration of a variety of contaminants.
“While gas fi lters are an essential part of the GC lab, cartridge-style fi lters are not yet universally used, and many researchers do not fully understand the benefi ts or how easy they are to use,” said Rola El abaji, GC product marketing manager for Phenomenex. “Zebron Gas Management fi lters are designed to make GC easy and worry free with a simple 20-second installation process. In addition to easy installation and replacement we offer helpful online selection tools and a chat service to answer any questions that may arise.”

New cloud point option for diesel fuel analysis
Cloud point is the temperature at which wax crystals are fi rst observed in the liquid sample upon cooling under prescribed conditions. It is an important physical property for estimating diesel fuel performance under cold temperatures since wax formation can cause fl ow performance issues such as fuel fi lter clogging.
The ASTM D975, Specifi cation for Diesel Fuels, specifi es the manual cloud point testing method D2500 as the referee method. Although the manual method maintains its signifi cance from its history and its position as the referee method, it is a heavily time/ labour consuming test, and the judgement of the cloud point is highly dependent on the operator’s skill which often times can result in poor precision and accuracy.

In the latest version (D975-17a), the ASTM committee has approved the addition of D7683 Standard Test Method for Cloud Point of Petroleum Products (Small Test Jar Method) as an alternative to the manual method.
Tanaka Scientifi c’s MPC models which automatically run cloud point tests according to D7683 offers simple and precise measurements. Compared to the manual method, testing

time is reduced by more than 50%, and sample volume by 90%. Pour point can also be measured simultaneously according to ASTM D6749 on the same sample.
Precision is signifi cantly improved due to automation. Furthermore, the MPC models allow for 1 °C test intervals for pour point and 0.1 °C intervals for cloud point which helps the user achieve even more precise results. Model MPC-102S uses advanced refrigerant- free cooling technology without the need for connection to an external refrigerated chiller which saves lab space and eliminates maintenance of refrigerant and coolant.
