Alex Adrain, of GHA’s Community Improvement Partnership (CIP), on tackling doorstep crime

STAR PHOTO

ANOTHER set of interesting entries to our Star Photo competition. Bella Harrigan, from Mosspark, took this picture of Mosspark Boulevard. Heather McLeod, from Knightswood, snapped this view of a plane in the sky. But the winner is Milan

Kucak, from Cranhill, who took this photo of the sun rising. Congratulations to Milan, who wins £20 of vouchers. Send in your photos and we’ll print the best ones.

Dear the Key I watched a car park in our street and a woman get on a bus then come back at the end of the day, get in her car and drive off. People here need their own parking space. What can we do? Mrs Tait, Lyoncross Road We’ve spoken to you about this. There’s not much we can do, I’m afraid. There are no yellow lines, and people are entitled to park there. Sorry we can’t be of much more help.

Dear the Key We endured a leaking pipe in our foyer, resulting in tiles falling off. The linoleum is ruined. The leaking pipe has at last been fixed. Can we expect work done to make the foyer presentable again? Morag Simpson, Hillpark Drive Hi Morag. The leaky pipe

has been fixed, as you say. We had to wait for the wall to dry off before replacing the tiles, which we’re now doing. The ceiling will also be plastered and painted and will be as good as new when that’s complete. Hope this helps – and apologies for the delay.

Dear the Key I’ve been waiting for a fence to be put up in my back garden but I haven’t heard about it from anyone at GHA. I’m fed up phoning. Can you help? Catherine McLaughlin, Lyoncross Road Hi Catherine. We’ve been out to see you about this. We’re looking into replacing fencing in your area. Your housing officer will keep you updated.

Stay safe at home

DOORSTEP crime affects some of our most vulnerable tenants. It is carried out by what are

often known as bogus callers. These are people who will come to your door and claim to be someone they’re not to get into your home. They could target anyone at

YOUNG people in Sighthill got their creative juices flowing at a series of workshops funded by the North East Area Committee. Hundreds of youngsters and their families tried Samba drumming and costume- making over the summer. The sessions were put on Springburn charity New Rhythms for Glasgow. The committee is also behind new sets of training goal posts for Budhill Football Academy in Springboig.

Dear the Key

The light in our rubbish room has been out for a couple of weeks. Also, two street lights outside have been out since before Christmas.

J Gillespie, Plantation Square We’ve fixed the lighting in the rubbish room. The street lighting is the city council’s responsibility. We’ve reported it to them and they say they’ll get to it soon. Any more problems, let us know. Thanks.

to keeping people – and communities – safe from doorstep crime. Follow these three simple

steps to make sure you stay safe. Think - Expecting someone? Only let callers in if they have an appointment or if you are expecting them. Secure - Make sure you use your door chain or spy-hole before opening the door. Question - Ask for identification and verify it by phone. Remember - if in doubt, keep them out. If you feel threatened, unsafe or suspicious of any caller, contact the police immediately on 999. If you see something suspicious in your area, or you want more advice about doorstep crime, call 101. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
