I am more likely to consider a career in STEM after attending the IMC19 Outreach Learning Space.
AMMS volunteers, industry vendors, and venue staff were friendly and made me excited to be there, and I was able try many instruments for myself.
I learned more through this experience than I would have in school. The VR and 3D print experiences were a rare and exciting opportunity. I recounted my experience with peers.
I would want to go to another outreach event like this. I learnt things about microscopes I never knew before.

Art & Design, me3D, and Keepad Interactive for their pro-bono contributions of staff, instrumentation, and time to this land- mark outreach program. Tis included producing a take-home booklet on microscopy techniques for each class. Arrangement of the space and coordination of venue volunteers would not have been possible without the excellent assistance and organi- zation of Arinex Pty Ltd, who were the conference coordinators, and the ICC, who were the venue liaisons. An IMC19 outreach webpage was contributed by Arinex staff, and a media team from Microscopy Australia created eye-catching school adver- tisements, promotional materials, and pull-up banners. Te central organizing committee for the IMC19 outreach
program included researchers and staff from Te University of Sydney, Macquarie University, UNSW Sydney, and UNSW Art & Design, and industry representatives from Zeiss, AXT, and Leica. Tanks to these individual volunteer efforts, the perfor- mance of the program and conference coordination has been recognized [12] with the International Association of Profes- sional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) Collaboration Award for conference organization. Given the success of this program and the conference, the AMMS looks forward to hosting inter- national visitors when Australia again wins the bid to host IMC31 in 52 years’ time.
