ORCHA News

The Ontario Reined Cow Horse Association

has decided to go ahead with our show on July18. With the new lightened restrictions and having been in touch with the local health unit, we are good to go. Obviously, we will have some special rules to follow, so it won’t be quite normal, but it’s a start. If everyone could pre-enter online through the ORCHA website (www.orcha.ca), that would be appreciated. You will be required to fill out a COVID form. No spectators are allowed, only competitors and volunteers. There will be no food booth, so please bring your own lunch. With so many cancelled, postponed and rescheduled shows it will be very near impossible

province, the Ontario Ex- treme Cowboy Club is thrilled to announce we’re back in the saddle and preparing to race again! Our first OXC race of

2021 will take place on July 17th at Breezy Day Stables in Schomberg, ON; racing starts at 9am with first walk- through at 8:45. Entries are already open and must be done in advance; entry dead- line is July 14 at 6pm. Please visit the Events page on the OXC website for the on-line registration form and other details. All races will be held under the

OXC COVID Safety Plan guidelines; please review the Safety Plan on our website before attending any races. There are a few other changes for this re-opening year as well: • Order of divisions will be: Young Gun, Youth, Novice, Intermediate in the morning, and Non-Pro, Green, RideSmart (55+) and Pro in the af- ternoon — but ribbons will be given out at the end of each divi- sion and riders are requested to leave the premises after their divi- sions are complete. • Entries will open on-line 14 days prior to race day; watch the Events tab on our OXC website for race entry opening dates. Each race has a capped number of runs/entries. • Due to the fewer number of races this year, a rider/horse team is re- quired to ride in only one Ontario sanctioned race to be eligible to apply for entry to the Provincial Championship races in October.

Other 2021 OXC races cur- rently scheduled are:

owners and OXC supporters for agree- ing to host our races. Typically, OXC races are held at fairs, so its wonderful these organizations have stepped up to fill the gaps – we look forward to rac- ing with you! YG’s are any rider aged 7-11, they compete on an 8-obsta- cle course (no jumps) and can have their par- ent/guardian in the ring with them if desired (not leading, in contact or coaching.) Youth are ages 12-17 (as of Jan 1st), ride a 13-obstacle course (may include a low jump) and can also ride up to Intermediate, Non-Pro or Pro divisions with parental permission. There’s lots of friendly faces to do course walk-throughs with and to learn the ropes – we hope you’ll come out and enjoy the fun! Congratulations to the
