News Breast cancer

MP’s all-clear MP Tracey Crouch has revealed she has been given the all-clear after being diagnosed with breast cancer last year. The member for Chatham and

Aylesford finished her last radio- therapy treatment in February. Tracey, who has a son Freddie (5), said the diagnosis “changed my life, but much for the better”. In a Facebook post, she said: "Constituents have been so kind asking about my health, and it suddenly occurred to me that I haven't actually updated folks to say I have received the all-clear. "I was so lucky with side effects

that I was able to continue work throughout, aided in part by the remote proceedings that parlia- ment was operating under. "My oncologist, consultant and the amazing nurses are keeping an eye on me to make sure I don't overdo it (whatever that means) but I feel as fit as a fiddle. "There are some things (like the

smell of chemo) that only a fellow traveller understands. Don't be shy and send me an email. I am happy to chat.”

Flyover plan agreed at A249/M2 junction

A £92million scheme to improve a busy junction on the M2 has been give the go ahead. The upgrade scheme was agreed on June 21 by Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps. Works to improve junction 5 of

the M2, the interchange with the A249 at Stockbury, will begin in September.

The junction has one of the high-

est collision rates in England and it is hoped this project will reduce collisions by about a third. Highways England’s regional

delivery director Chris Welby-Ev- erard said: “Improving the Stock- bury interchange will bring real benefits to the drivers who use this junction daily, and it will improve the flow of traffic to provide a safer and more integrated network.” The roundabout will be replaced with a flyover, to provide free- flowing movement on the A249.

Two free-flowing slip roads will be created with a left turn for traf- fic travelling from the A249 south- bound to the M2 westbound and a left turn from the A249 north- bound to the M2 eastbound. Maidstone Road to the A249 Stockbury Roundabout will close and be re-routed to Oad Street.

The existing junction of Oad Street with the A249 will re-open with a new link provided south of the existing Oad Street to connect with the A249 Stockbury Round- about.

The aim of the project is to im-

prove journey times and reduce delays.
