rom beaver dams and eagles’ nests on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, to deer
and moose grazing at nearby parks, Medicine Hat boasts a wonderland of wildlife for those adventurous enough to seek it out. Southeastern Alberta is home to a wide array of birds of prey, from bald eagles to great horned owls and Swainson’s hawks. Spring, summer, fall or even winter; it’s never a bad time to get out and go birdwatching around the Gas City. Parks like Police Point, Kin Coulee
and Strathcona Island offer a great mix of atmosphere and wildlife, so grab your camera or binoculars, bring a lunch and connect with the nature around you. If a guided experience is more your cup of tea, check out the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program at Police Point Park, which offers a variety of activities from river walks to photography workshops.
