boat. Meanwhile, the canal horse which normally towed the boat from an attached rope as it walked along the tow path, would be led overland to rejoin the narrow boat once it was through the tunnel.

This reminded me of how often I like to avoid the dark tunnels and take the easier overland route! Yet within the darkness I’m reminded of the two “leggers” and the board on which they lie prone - like God the Father on one side of me, Christ on the other side of me, doing the hard work for me, and the board on which they are stretched being like the cross at Calvary.

It is because of that cross and sacrifice that I’m brought safely through and can believe and entrust my future care to the faith I have in God the Three in One.

Living in Northamptonshire we have enjoyed many walks by canals etc and it is often in beautiful places that God speaks to us more clearly than when we are caught up in busy household duties.

We thank God for the easing of restrictions and give thanks for the speed with which vaccines have been administered. However, many countries are still in the midst of death due to the pandemic. So our prayers for them are very much needed.

Hopefully May 23rd, Pentecost, will bring great happiness to us as we fellowship together again.
