For Square One it’s important to us that we are true to the style by using raw steel and reclaimed timber with a little bit concrete thrown in for good luck. You want rustic, saw marks, a little bit of unevenness and warmth that the reclaimed timber offers; combined with the raw hardness of the steel where you can see the welds. These details tell a story of a previous life and give the furniture a unique character, different to any other.

You’ve undertaken work for some prestigious names in the hospitality sector, most notably Marston’s Inns and Taverns, The Bond Company and The Alchemist. Not forgetting Nike, Sky Sports and many others. What jobs have been the most rewarding?

I can’t say that any particular job has been the most rewarding. For

us as company, the ‘reward’ is receiving great feedback from clients and having the opportunity to see people interact with your products.

Q

Going forward into an uncertain era in the wake of COVID, will you stick to what you know best or are there any development or expansion plans in the pipeline?

We are always developing new ideas and there’s always a plan to be bigger and better in what we do. We have hundreds of ideas and new products that we are keen to showcase, however it’s finding the time and right opportunity to do so. We have been extremely busy throughout lockdown and we have been forced to expand our operations which has been fantastic, so hopefully we can soon start looking at what our options are moving forward.

If a client had a bottomless budget and wanted you to create something truly bespoke, what would be the ultimate design and install for you?

I’m a massive foodie, love my ales and am an outdoors person, so if we could create a steak house, street food venue that offered a variety of ales, with the ability to do some crazy activity like axe throwing, then I’d love to be let loose designing it. Oh and if it could be outside in the woods with tree house pods that somehow connected to each other, that would be cool!
