A three-mile nature trail wends through the island’s interior and a three-mile kayak trail meanders among the mangroves and bay. Picnic tables and shelters are located near the beach.


The park has a marina with electric


and water hookups, as well as a snack bar and gift shop. It is only accessible by boat or ferry. Ferry service is provided by the Caladesi Island Ferry (727-734-1501).


FORT DE SOTO COUNTY PARK

recreation trail connects the campground with the North and East Beach Swim Centers and the historic fort. In addition, the 2,200-foot Barrier-Free Nature Trail is a self-guided interpretive trail providing access to nature for all visitors, regardless of their physical abilities.

walks wind along Lake Maggiore’s scenic shoreline through 245 acres and five unique ecosystems. The preserve is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail and a bird of prey aviary.
