The parents of two-year-old Mepal toddler, Lydia Robbins, just want to say thank you now their daughter has fully recovered from a terrifying brain haemorrhage and five rounds of life- saving surgery.

So grateful for the positive outcome,

Lydia’s Dad, Chaz Robbins, is leaping out of a plane on a sponsored parachute jump, scheduled to take place this month, Covid-permitting. He and partner, Katie Truman,

are delighted that a Just Giving fundraising appeal has topped the £3,000 mark. The money will be donated to The Sick Children’s Trust that fund the Acorn House, a home from home, on the Addenbrookes site which provided vital support for Katie and Chaz when Lydia fell ill. “The amazing team of nurses, doctors, surgeons and specialists that cared for Lydia, allowed her to come back to us as the same cheeky, happy, chatty, precious little girl that’s blessed our lives from day one,” says Katie.

“This accommodation was a god- send to us and was clearly the same for every other family we saw there.”

Brody Rings The Bell

Just weeks after nine-year-old Witchford Rackham pupil, Brody Sims, rang the ‘end of treatment’ bell, following treatment for a brain tumour, friends and family are aiming to make a difference for two vital charities.

Above: Nine-year-old Brody Sims has rung the ‘end of treatment’ bell and now grateful friends and family are looking to say thank you.

After a harrowing year-long battle and following specialist treatment at Addenbrookes and in Manchester, local groups and businesses are backing a fundraising raffle in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity and Clic Sargent.

An Aladdin’s cave of prizes include

two signed Cambridge United FC shirts, gift vouchers for Ely’s City Cycle Centre and £50 to spend at Lancaster Way’s APEX coffee house. You can buy your tickets at £2 each and three for £5 – by making a donation online. Due to the Coronavirus restrictions, raffle tickets numbers will be allocated in a live feed draw due to take place on Good Friday, April 2. Prizes will be delivered or collected in a Covid-safe way. www.gofundme.com/f/brodys-raffle- thebraintumourcharity-clicsargent
