Local Law Firm expanding into Dartmouth d&d  1983

Dartmouth. Darby & Darby Solicitors are adding to their existing offices in Torquay and Brixham with this expansion into the former ‘Spotted’ clothes shop on Hauley Road. Managing Partner Ben Darby hopes to open their doors (COVID permitting) in early April. Darby & Darby are a well established firm of solicitors that have been practicing out of Torbay since their inception in 1983. A father and son partnership (John and Ben Darby pictured) started life as John Darby & Co from John’s spare bedroom at home. Not long after inception John Darby & Co moved to its current head office premises in St Marychurch Torquay. Ben joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2000 eventually taking partnership in 2007 when the firm was renamed Darby & Darby. The Dartmouth office is a second expansion into a new town in five years following the opening of the Brixham office in 2016. Darby & Darby, who are

shortlisted in the Law Firm of the Year category of the Devon & Somerset Law Society Awards 2020 (awards ceremony delayed until later in 2021 due to lockdown), will offer Dartmouth and the wider South Hams community

the traditional high street legal services that are delivered from their other offices. A quick visit to their website shows their areas of work including Conveyancing (residential and commercial); Wills

Ben and Jonathan have strong ties to the area having both been born in Brixham. When asked about the firm’s

and Inheritance Tax Planning; Probate; Lasting Powers of Attorney; Divorce; and Criminal Defence. John Darby, having practised

for 50 years in South Devon, now heads a team of 9 lawyers across the firm’s (soon to be) three offices. The Dartmouth office will primarily be served by Ben Darby and fellow solicitor Jonathan Parker (pictured).

expansion into Dartmouth Ben Darby commented “Our Dartmouth office gives the local community access to a firm of solicitors providing a wide range of legal services for individuals and businesses living and working in the town. Currently the residents and businesses of Dartmouth are having to travel to Totnes, Kingsbridge or Torbay to access traditional office based legal services”. He added “With the help of the interior design team at Fruition Design we hope to develop a welcoming and professional office environment for existing and new clients. I understand that clients only tend to visit solicitors when they have to, often at times in life that can be difficult and stressful. Hopefully the work we have undertaken in designing the new office will remove some of those stresses and provide a welcoming atmosphere.”
