The Apartment Association Outreach, Inc.
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT By Jeff March, BRG Apartments, Outreach President
Well, I have good news and bad news. Jeff March
The bad news is that the Apartment Asso- ciation Outreach (AAO) 5K 4 Rent is being postponed; and the good news, it is being re-scheduled for Saturday, July 31 at 9 am at Friendship Park. This will give more time for citizens to get vaccinated against corona- virus, more time to raise money in support of Outreach, and we will certainly have warm weather. Once again, I want to thank Joe Mischell and Cincinnati Coin Laundry for their continued generosity as the 5K 4 Rent
Presenting Sponsor. Justin Seger with Hills Properties, the 5K 4 Rent Event Chair, has raised the bar by announcing that our fundraising goal for this event is increasing from $37,000 to $45,000. I know together we can meet and exceed this challenge, and help provide hope to those in our community that are experiencing hardship. Importantly, I know we are all anxious to be together once again to enjoy our apartment industry family and support the work of Outreach! Please note the sponsorship opportunities listed in this newsletter.
They are: Gold Sponsor for $1,000, Silver Sponsor for $500, and Bronze Sponsor for $350. We encourage our member companies to pay for registration for employees to participate as this is a great team building activity and it provides critical rental assistance to those who are hurting during this pandemic … and these funds come
back to assist our member companies. Despite the continuing challenges of COVID-19, Outreach
continues to provide meaningful financial contributions to help our partners: Freestore Foodbank, CAIN, Jewish Family Services (JFS), Santa Maria Community Services, our 20 food pantries, and many others. In 2021, the AAO Board has already approved assistance of $28,000 in rent assistance and $10,000 in extra funding to our food pantries. Your continued generosity allows us to continue to help so many in need!
I want to thank Susan Peck, Patty Braun and Kellie Jones with BRG Apartents for their excellent work on producing the January AAO Newsletter. Please take a look as this issue discusses PLK Communities’ “Hunger is Real” Food Drive which highlights phi- lanthropy as a core PLK value, and their success in delivering food to seven pantries. Great work! Also, there is good information on the JFS Heldman Family Food Pantry, the For His Glory Pantry and the Anderson Ferry Food Pantry … you will come away with a good understanding as to how the demand for food has grown, and how vital our work is to provide resources to those in need in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. I look forward to July 31 when we will all come together to help Outreach grow and assist more children and families. Remember, our mission is “to provide basic needs and emergency assistance to families and individuals in crisis.” Together, we are making a difference. Thank you!
