James collects food to help town’s homeless

is inviting Santa bookings for vir- tual meetings of up to 10 minutes. A suggested minimum dona-


tion of £5 per call will be given to local charities before Christmas. “We think these will be lovely oc-

A NINE-year-old boy has been collecting essentials to distribute to homeless people for Christmas. On his way to school, James Beesley, pictured, asked his mother if he could donate some food to the Salvation Army, which quickly es- calated to him being inundated with donations from his commu- nity.


The youngster, of Blean Square, decided to take action after seeing homeless people in Maidstone town centre. The East Borough Primary School pupil said donating "made him feel good since the pandemic has made things difficult for a lot of families”. He said seeing this made him


want to help as he believes nobody should go without. With the help of his mother, James got his family and neighbours involved and col- lected a boot full of items including sanitary products, food, and sweets. His mother Nicola said her son had asked questions about home-
