by Delyth Owen, Tir Dewi North Wales Volunteer Co-ordinator

When I heard about this little charity called Tir Dewi over a year ago it was my dream to either become a volunteer or to work for them.Well, my dream has come true. I’ve recently been appointed as the North Wales Volunteer Co‐ordinator and began working for them at the beginning of August. This little charity which was

established over 5 years ago by Rev Canon Eileen Davies has now begun to grow into something much bigger. A charity that started by offering support to farmers in the three counties of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthen has now helped over 2 0 0 farmers and has recently expanded to Powys. The results of a survey carried out recently on farmers there clearly showed that there is much need for more support for farmers and their families. From September 2 3 onwards, this support will also be available to all

farmers in Gwynedd, Conwy and Anglesey. The whole foundation of the charity is held up by our committed, passionate, dedicated team of volunteers. If you would like be part of this team to help support the NorthWales farming community then please contact me: delyth@tirdewi.co.uk or visit our website www.tirdewi.co.uk for further information. You can provide support in many different ways from answering the

Tir Dewi helpline, helping to promote Tir Dewi by visiting local markets, giving talks to clubs such asMerchaid YWawr, YFC etc, and becoming one of our translators. I’m also looking for volunteers who are compassionate, empathetic and non‐judgmental that farmers can confide in and feel supported by through face to face contact on the farms or in a place where the farmer feels comfortable talking in confidence. For free confidential support please call our free helpline on 0 8 0 0 1 2 1
