News Appeal delay
VIOLENT David Brown, who was convicted of assault and engaging in coercive behaviour against his ex-partner, will not have his appeal hearing until the end of the year. Mr Brown (28), of Owletts Close, Shepway, strangled his victim on the sofa until she passed out. She suffered eye and neck injuries. At a trial in March, the court heard Brown had coerced his ex- partner for years, shortly after the birth of his first son. It was also alleged Brown took his victim’s memory box to her stillborn child and burnt it. Brown was acquitted of criminal damage. His hearing is due at Maidstone Crown Court on December 21.

repairs and adjustments through to new sets we can offer a complete denture care service. Although the work is done ‘in house’ with
partial dentures and other more complex cases we work closely with the dentist. It is essential that the health of any remaining teeth are checked out before denture construction. This is necessary to ensure the prosthesis is a long term solution. We can accept referrals from you own dentist or we can arrange an appointment with one of our dental colleagues at your first appointment. Having the laboratory on the premises reduces
the waiting time for some services, some services like repairs can even be done while you wait. It is also an advantage as some larger adjustments can be done in house We pride ourselves in making sure everyone we
treat is happy with the product we produce and want our patients to have the confidence that their denture has been constructed with the utmost care and using only quality materials. Our aim is to make people comfortable with our treatment and confident with our product.

Robbery bid attacker is jailed for four years
A MAIDSTONE man who fol- lowed and attacked a lone woman has been jailed for four years. Christopher Hatcher (36), of Tonbridge Road, pounced on his victim as she was walking home after a night out in the town cen- tre.
The victim was passing through
Bower Place at around 11.45pm on March 29 last year, when Hatcher grabbed her from behind and placed his hands over her mouth. During a struggle, the woman struck Hatcher in the groin, caus- ing him to lose his balance and dragging them both to the ground.
Hatcher, who had breached li- cence conditions of a previous prison sentence, then ran from the scene, but was identified and ar- rested just hours later. A jumper he had been wearing
was seized and sent for forensic examination. This later detected
admitted a charge of attempted robbery and was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment on Wednes- day, September 23. Hatcher will have to serve two
thirds of the sentence before he can be considered for parole. He will then be subject to an extended li- cence period of three years. Detective Constable Ellen Cox,
of the West Kent Vulnerability In- vestigation Team, said: “This was a premeditated incident in which Hatcher identified a lone and vul- nerable woman and then targeted her in a secluded area.
the victim’s DNA in saliva, recov- ered on both cuffs. Hatcher admitted following the victim, but denied any sexual mo- tive and claimed his intention was to steal her phone so he could sell it to buy alcohol. At Maidstone Crown Court, he
“She had no idea anyone had been following her, and it must have been a truly terrifying expe- rience.
“Thankfully, the victim reacted quickly and instinctively, which was enough to scare her attacker away. She has shown tremendous courage and her detailed descrip- tion of Hatcher enabled us to swiftly identity and arrest him.”
