RUSS ROSMAIT Russ Rosmait is a University Professor in the Department of Engineering Technology at Pittsburg State University (PSU). He has been teaching at PSU for over 30 years. At PSU, Rosmait is the faculty advisor to the American Foundry Society student chapter. He advises students in manufacturing and metal casting studies within the Department of Engineering Technology. “I would like to say thank you to Russ for helping me get a job at Howmet Aerospace and giving me the tools and experience to be an effective engineer. Russ has made Pitt State, a small school in Kansas, a household name in the investment casting industry,” Benjamin Speer, PSU graduate commented. A well known mentor to the


education of future engineers, Rosmait is one of 20 Foundry Educational Foundation (FEF) Key Professors within North America. “For over the last 25 years that


I’ve worked with Russ, he is one of those professors who is really invested in his students – helping them find internships, making sure that they apply for scholarships, taking them on foundry tours, providing as many opportunities as possible to keep them engaged with this industry,” remarked Pam Lechner, Director of Alumni & Academic Relations, FEF.


Rosmait has donated his time to the


Investment Casting Institute and served as the Board of Director’s Academic

Advisor. He was instrumental in starting the Institute’s first Intern Scholarship Program.


Rosmait also helped to


develop and organize the Investment Casting Institute’s Industry Certification program of which he has been the program director for the last 20 years. “I can only congratulate Russ for his


tireless and efficient work as I, myself have been associated with Professor Rosmait since about 2000. Missed the certification course I believe once since then,” Manfred Dickersbach of Inductotherm and Industry Certification Course instructor commented. Executive Director, Joseph E. Fritz, stated, “Russ has been instrumental in educating today’s professionals and in the course of his daily life, dedicates time and effort in the development of tomorrow’s industry leaders.” Rosmait’s


professional career


includes a host of awards and recognitions. He is very active within U.S. metal casting industry and the U.S. space program. He was selected to be a NASA Faculty Fellow and worked at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama for five summers. His is on the advisory board of Metal Casting Design and Purchasing Magazine.


His education includes a Bachelors of Science degree and a Master of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and a Doctoral degree from Oklahoma State University. Awards include the John Langford
