he Investment Casting Institute is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Leo Rando. Leo Rando,

At Stryker Corp., he was engaged in a Project Management role with an emphasis in developing new products for the Medical Implant field. The majority of the products under Rando’s direction involved Investment Castings. Leo has provided valuable foundry insight to Stryker as their global casting expert for the past 32 years. Leo was a long term supporter of the

Investment Casting Institute and served on the Board of Directors for several years. He has participated in continuous improvements in the

products for his many and

programs delivered to our membership. In 2017, Leo was elected Member Emeritus in the Investment Casting Institute

industry

achievements and efforts in ICI membership benefit programs. Leo will most certainly, be missed by his family, his work associates, and countless

friends across the IC industry. Past ICI Executive Director, Michael

C. Perry commented, “I first met Leo in 1966, when I started my career. We worked together off and on for many years at several companies. Leo was always very generous in sharing his industry knowledge and experiences with me. He was one of my mentors. We spent many lunches talking about our families, reliving old industry stories, and enjoying a lot of laughs. We were once on the same bowling

team on Thursday night - I’ll never forget his sweeping left hand hook. We played golf – or I should say attempted to play. Leo was a much better golfer, but I had trouble understanding his left hand drives (since I am right handed).

Leo has been a major contributor

to the investment casting industry for more then 50 years... but I think most of all, I will always appreciate and value his friendship. That’s what I will miss the most.”
