My favorite color, you ask? It is difficult for a person who lives with colours to chose one. Maybe blue, but I love the many different shades of grey.

If you could meet one artist, dead or alive, who would that be and why?I saw some original masterpieces at the art museum in Vienna. I was in awe, standing in front of those paintings. I would love to meet Hieronymus Bosch, Gustav Klimt, Antoni Gaudi, Lucian Freud, Otto Dix, Egon Schiele, expressionists mostly. There are so many, so many.

Today, what and who inspires you? For inspi- ration, it is always Nature. As for who, it might be someone unknown who

can be my inspiration for a painting. Painting is my life.

In addition to her portrait work for clients, Valeria works on her own projects, including three children’s books. Her illustrations are reminiscent of Eastern fairy tales, rich in detailed arabesque ornamentation. When illustrating objects, Valeria does not rely on literal presentation, but rather produces objects that seem to come from an imaginative dimension where everything is allowed. Her illustrations are drawn with a light hand, and do not abide by realistic colors or features. To see more of Valeria’s work, visit
