About Maverick: He is your typical mischievous, energetic, three-year-old pup, despite being diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy last year in March. He is on a strict medication schedule and must take two different medications, twice a day for the rest of his life. He also has to have frequent blood work and regular check-ins with our vet and a neurologist. Though we are work- ing to get Maverick’s seizures under better control, he does not let his condition get him down. He is a happy, loving pup who enjoys going to doggie daycare and riding in the car with the windows down. Interesting Fact: Maverick is a professional sock

thief. He can dig through a big pile of laundry and will always find socks to steal and hide under the bed.

ZÖE MAVERICK

About Zöe: My friend Kendra found Zöe wandering the streets looking for food. She was just a puppy. Kendra brought Zoe to my house and asked if I would consider taking care of her. Within about an hour of meeting Zöe she had won my heart. Zöe is three years old now, and she has all the food and cuddles she needs, and a big backyard to play in. Today her biggest worry is what side of the couch she’s going to sleep on and how many lizards she’ll be able to catch (usually zero, they’re pretty fast). Interesting Fact: Zöe just recently discovered mirrors and now spends a large amount of time staring at herself. I hope she likes what she sees.

About Penny: We adopted Penny, our sweet Basenji mix, in July 2011 after seeing her as the Pet of The Week on ABC Action News. She was just five months old. The day we went to the shelter to officially adopt her, we were surprised by two of our very good friends who were there to adopt her for us as a wedding present. We had just been married for a couple of months and wanted to add a new pup to our family. Penny has been the best companion to us. She’s traveled with us on

PENNY

countless road trips. She’s quite the social butterfly, enjoying visiting dog parks and attending events such as the Humane Society of Tampa Bay’s Bark In The Park, which we take her to every year. In June of 2014, Penny became a big sister when we welcomed our son to the family. In July of 2018, she gained a feline sister when we adopted our cat, Jessie, also from Humane Society of Tampa Bay She loves bacon, peanut butter and any sort of food that our five-

year-old drops from the table, and enjoys hanging out with her friends at doggie daycare, playing with Jessie, and chasing squirrels. Interesting Fact: We did her Wisdom Panel DNA test to see what

she was mixed with other than Basenji, and it turns out she has both a German Short-Haired Pointer and a Newfoundland as great-grandparents.
