Portfolio Resident Services helping with Rental Assistance during the pandemic

Jessica lost her job as a nurse due to a temporary downsizing during the COVID pandemic. When she was able to return to work, she then had to take off after contracting the virus. She has since recovered but her finances are still struggling. With help from The Caring Place, PRS was able to help Jessica get her rent paid for two months. Community: Kaia Pointe

Lety reached out to PRS after seeing that they assist with re- sources for families that have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. She explained that she had lost her job in the service industry since the pandemic started out, and she was having a

really hard time making ends meet. Unfortunately she didn’t qualify to receive unemployment or financial support through the CARES Act. PRS was able to connect her with financial assistance through El Buen Samaritano, one of the organizations distributing RISE funds in Austin. She confirmed that she was able to receive a $400 gift card from El Buen. She was very grateful to count on this support during the COVID-19 unemployment crisis. Community: Santora Villas

Yolanda is a resident whose 7-year-old daughter participates regularly in the after school program. While helping her communicate with the office during the pandemic PRS learned that she didn't qualify to receive aid from the CARES Act, and she had lost most of her hours working in the hospitality industry. Through a great community partner, El Buen Samaritano, PRS assisted Yolanda in applying for a distribution from the RISE fund for people who didn't qualify for state or federal aid. Not only was Yolanda granted aid, but her adult daughter Nina was as well. Both Yolanda and her daughter each received a $400 gift card from El Buen Samaritano. The picture shows Yolanda on the right and her daughter Nina on the left. Community: Signature at Franklin Park
