zooming to virtual getting started
We are delighted to provide you with some tips and tricks to get the most out of the Zoom experience before the TALHFA Virtual Education Event!
• Ensure you're on mute to respect the other attendees and speakers. But don't forget to unmute when you want to talk.
• During a presentation use the "raise your hand" feature (located in Non-verbal feedback icons referrenced below) to draw attention to the speaker/ presenter.
• If you're not ready to be on camera, upload your picture so we can still see you! (you can add a profile picture by signing into
zoom.us and click Profile)
• Use the chat feature to catch up with friends and colleagues. Be sure to select if you want to speak with everyone or send a private message to an individual.
Attendee Controls in the Meeting The attendee controls appear at the bottom of your screen during the event
• Mute / Unmute: Mute and unmute your microphone. • Audio Controls (click the ^ arrow next to Mute / Unmute): Allows you to change the microphone and speaker that Zoom is currently using on your computer, leave computer audio, and access the full audio settings.
• Start Video / Stop Video: Turns your camera on or off. • Video Controls (click the ^ arrow next to Start Video / Stop Video): Change cam- eras if you have multiple cameras, select a virtual background, or access your full video settings.
• Participants: See who's currently in the meeting and invite others. You can also access to these options:
• Rename: Hover over your name, click More, and chooseC Rename to change your screen name displayed to other participants.
• Non-verbal feedback icons: Places an icon beside your name to quickly notify the host.
• Share Screen: Start a screen share (if the host allows). You will be able to select the desktop or application you want to share.
• Chat: Access the chat window to chat with the participants. • Leave: Leave the meeting while it continues for the other participants. Only the host can end the meeting.
