'STYLE FOR’ OCTOBER SHOPPING WITH SAVVY

From a fit-in-everything tote bag to comfortable shoes that don’t leave you with blisters and a hobble — here are my lists of dos and don’ts, together with a selection of garments you can buy from your local stores today to fit the bill. When you dress yourself for the day, one thing to remember is to wear white or nude-coloured underwear. That base will work with anything you are trying on in any texture or colour.

The day’s plan may include going from the freezing open-air high streets to the warm indoor shopping centres and then to the often overheated stores. The key is to think layers - garments you can throw on or easily remove and the best solution for this is simple yet stunning separates. A loose shirt is a great first layer option. Buy ones that are reasonably neutral as you'll be able to wear them with a broad range of items.

Shopping attire is not something that a lot of us think too much about, but we can easily get it so wrong. Dressing right does really make the whole thing run more seamlessly - especially with the additional hassle of Covid rules that adds the extra stress of queueing and social distancing. There's nothing worse than a shopping outfit that you have to wrestle with each time you try something on (as if you are in an advanced hot yoga class).

Deciding what is best to wear can be one of the most essential elements of a successful retail mission.
