Mental health for families
SUFFOLK Libraries have launched a range of new mental health support schemes for pregnant women and young families. ‘Me, Myself and Baby’ is a partnership with Suffolk Mind, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and Get Me Out of These Four Walls. The project is funded by the Suffolk Community Foundation and was initially aimed to be a series of library-based groups. Now however, access to the scheme will be available remotely online. The scheme will also offer telephone coun- selling to parents, provided by Suffolk Mind.
Your say on higher
apprenticeships EMPLOYERS are being asked to share their views on a new higher-level apprenticeship scheme for library, information and knowl- edge workers.
An online survey has been launched as the
first step in asking employers to get involved with shaping a new scheme for apprentices. The survey results will be used to gauge how keen employers are to make use of a new apprenticeship level that would offer robust, funded training for employees. The survey runs until 14 August and can be found at

Next milestone for CILIP Pathways
CILIP Pathways has reached a new development milestone with the submission of its application to be the end point assessor organi- sation (EPAO) for the profession’s Level 3 apprenticeship Standard. CILIP Pathways was formed in 2020
as a subsidiary of CILIP to become the end point assessor for the Level 3 Library, Information and Archive Services Assistant apprenticeship Standard. All EPAOs must be formally recognised by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
This is a two-stage registration process. Stage one, to be recognised as an official EPAO, was passed in April. The second and final stage is to show that as EPAO there are the knowledge, skills and experience to assess a specific Standard. The stage two registration process is very rigorous. It is vital that the assess- ment of the apprentices is delivered expertly and robustly to ensure the integrity of the qualification. The EPAO is required to detail all processes, poli- cies, procedures, skills and resources in place to deliver a high quality end-point assessment for the apprentices. CILIP Pathways’ second stage registra-
tion was submitted to ESFA in July and Jo Cornish, Director of CILIP Pathways said: “We are thrilled to have reached this stage of the process. We know that there is huge demand for the appren- ticeship and continue to do all we can to open up this route into our profession. ESFA will need to apply due diligence in assessing our application, but we will continue to work on the development of the business whilst we wait for news.” Successful completion of the ESFA regis- tration process will make CILIP Pathways the first official EPAO for this Standard. Once that step is completed, the focus will be on finalising the resources and processes needed to open up registration. Jo added: “We will keep all stakeholders informed of our progress as we build CILIP Pathways. We are looking for- ward to the day we can start delivering our support and assessment services for apprentices, and even more so the day we give great news to the first appren- tice to successfully complete the new level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.” The first apprentices are due for assess- ment in early 2021.
