Inside EICF

EICF Webinar Series 2020 – A Comprehensive Review of Innovative Best Practices

T

he situation created by the Covid-19 Pandemic Outbreak has impaired travelling and getting together in the conferences and seminars.

This has been a

common place for most International Associations, affecting their annual meetings which probably constitutes the peak of the Association activity where networking among delegates is so relevant. Under those circumstances most of Associations have gone digital promoting virtual events in different styles. The EICF has selected Webinar tools to continue the dissemination of technical knowledge and expertise among the Investment Casting stakeholders. When looking backwards at the EICF history what has been identified as the fundamental driving element in attracting delegates to the EICF conferences, are the technical papers presented in those events. Furthermore, with the development of marketing techniques and global market expansion the exhibition part of the conferences became more and more important becoming the annual point of encounter among customers and suppliers. However, the marketing and commercial activity always was supported on the technical side. The benefits and innovations that the products offered

represented to the

advance of the technology and to the Investment Casting companies. In this sense technical presentations have been regularly offered at the conferences and seminars, not only by Foundries but also by Suppliers based on the research and technology advance of the “Suppliers Investment Casting Industry”. It was precisely this approach that inspired the EICF Webinar

Series 2020. The EICF

got in contact with the Supplier Investment Casting Industry to offer them this possibility of engaging with their customers and potential new

customers via the participation with technical presentations into a series of live webinars. It has to be said that the response from the Suppliers Industry has been incredibly generous supporting the idea since the beginning and providing not only the materials and reputed speakers but also ideas on topics and structures for the webinars. The Webinar series are being

spanned over the months of May, June and July with an average of two webinars per week totaling 18 Webinars. The Webinars are broadcasted live allowing audience interaction with Q&A, but in addition they could be revisited via the formula of “Webinars On Demand”, allowing those who missed them, the possibility to go through them. The EICF was conscious when launching this idea that it could play an active training role in a moment of lockdown of certain industrial facilities with people confined at home or it could complement the training programmes of the companies. That social compromise advised to open the webinars to the whole community of Investment Casting and although the majority of the webinar´s audience

comes from European companies there are significant representatives from different parts of the world such as India, China, US and Canada. Feedback and ratings coming from the audience have been being very rewarding as most times are between “Excellent” and “Very Good”. Webinar Series 2020 programme of

has coped with a series topics

from the wax room till the latest advances in digital radiography (final inspection) covering the whole process of investment casting.
