Covid-19 Like all organisations the Parish Council has been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. We have been holding meetings via the Zoom platform and this is proving very helpful. These meetings are open to the public where you can raise an issue in the public speaking section of the meeting. To join in you just need to download the free Zoom software from
www.zoom.com and then use a unique meeting code which is publicised on the agenda for every meeting.
Zoom as good as it is and very useful under the “lockdown”, we shall be pleased to return to having our meetings in The Hub, let us hope we do not have to wait too long.
Due to Corvid-19 some projects have had to be held in abeyance until some sort of normality returns. These include the Adoption of Wherry Gardens process, part of the Cemetery extension program and completing, installing and the official unveiling of the new village sign.
Another Covid casualty has been the Community Payback team who have been carrying out litter picking in our village for a while now. They are currently not working. To fill in the gap Parish Councillors have been out picking up litter to keep the village spick and span. If you can help do let us know by contacting the Parish Clerk.
Agnes Gardner King Playground Of course it is currently closed following Government instructions but we are focused on its future. We are striving to improve access and install at least one new play installation in the Agnes Gardener-King playground in Park Road. The costs for this will now almost certainly have to be from charitable donations. Despite securing generous donations from The Lions and some parishioners we need more. We are pursuing various corporations such as Tesco and Persimon Homes both of whom make donations to such community projects. However any financial support you feel you can give will be greatly appreciated and will speed this project on its way. Please contact the Parish Clerk.
Street Lights The Parish Council is taking over responsibility for street lighting from Broadland District Council in line with BDC’s new policy. This is for the small number of street lights in some parts of the village. This does not cover the lights on the main A1151 road. Cllr Peter Mantle is in charge of this project.
Dog Fouling During lockdown it seems we have had an increase in dog fouling in the area - especially in areas such as the footpath that runs between Park Road and The Avenue and Church Lane and Caen Meadow. Please clean up after your dog. There is a £1000 fine for those flouting the regulations.
