Promethean continues to lead IFPD market

The latest Futuresource Consulting figures confirm that Promethean continues to lead the IFPD market in K12 – not only in the UKI, but also globally*. And in recent times, perhaps now more than ever, the global education technology com- pany has demonstrated that it’s not product volume alone that defines a market leader.

Jim Wallis, Promethean Head of UKI Markets

While many AV manufactur- ers have been forced to close their doors over the past few months, Promethean has re- mained open for business. With its whole team working from home, Promethean has been fully operational for the duration of lockdown, which means both channel partners and end users have had have access to all the support and guidance they have needed.

Having only taken over the role as Promethean Head of UKI Mar- kets a matter of months ago, Jim Wallis has been driving the busi- ness forward while schools have had their doors closed: “It’s not been an easy one for any business to navigate, but we have built a robust business in the UKI and globally. With our experienced management team, we have been working hard throughout this period to develop new initiatives that will enable our channel part- ners to respond to changing market needs.” One such solution is Promethean’s expanded demonstration pro- gramme, which will give schools the choice between three differ- ent types of ActivPanel demonstration:

• Virtual – online video session.

• Remote – online video session followed by two-week on-site Ac- tivPanel road test.

• On-site – traditional face to face demonstration with two-week ActivPanel road test.

Explaining the strategy behind the enhanced demonstration of- fering, Jim said: “We knew that the schools reopening would not signal an immediate return to ‘business as usual’, so we have designed a demonstration solution that is both flexible and safe – giving schools choice over what works best for their individual circumstances.” With demonstration registration forming a key part of Promet- hean’s Partner Accreditation Programme, maintaining momentum

even easier, while for IT administrators the emphasis is ‘stream- lined security you can rely on’.

Spanning the full Promethean Solution Suite, this latest release brings a series of enhancements that further strengthen the Ac- tivPanel’s usability, functionality and teaching experience. This includes User Profiles, which enable up to nine teachers (one owner, and eight guests) to securely sign into their own person-

with the delivery of ActivPanel demonstrations is crucial for chan- nel partners: “As part of our Partner Accreditation Programme, all partners, regardless of level, have access to demonstration registration. This gives partners supported and protected pricing when they secure an ActivPanel demonstration opportunity with a school,” explains Simon Port, Head of Channel Operations UKI and Asia Pacific. As part of its comprehensive channel support, Promethean can deliver these demonstrations on behalf of the partners – and will continue to provide this value-add service under the expanded demonstration programme.

Enhanced solution suite

Another area where Promethean has continued to forge forward is product development. As a product development strategy, Promet- hean is committed to building on its core offering by continuously updating and improving the solutions that it has. For teachers, the latest updates have focused on making teaching with technology

alised profiles on a single ActivPanel.

The introduction of Cloud Connect means teachers can now save, move, and access content directly with Google Drive and OneDrive – with no need to download any apps. This additional cloud connectivity will save teachers even more time and great- ly improve the user experience.

In the latest ActivPanel Elements Series update, the Screen Share app fully replaces ActivCast in the Unified Menu. Wheth- er students are in the classroom or learning at home, Screen- Share allows them to connect to the ActivPanel at school and gives teachers the ability to interact with shared screens – with students seeing teacher interaction on their devices in real-time.

Another key addition is a new Multi-Window functionality. This helps teachers to multi-task with ease by supporting re- sizing, dragging, and moving multiple windows to teach from several content types or apps at once. When the window is closed, the apps automatically close too. Existing ActivPanel customers will need to update their sys-

tem’s firmware to benefit from the latest changes. Given the challenges facing schools with a phased reopening, Promet- hean recommends that these updates are carried out over the summer period.

Preparing for summer installs

Aside from product updates, the summer has always been the busiest period for education installations – and this year will undoubtedly present new challenges. To support its channel partners in managing ActivPanel installations in the coming weeks, Promethean is developing guidance on how to handle the systems and operate safely on-site.

Navigating through the next couple of months will require close communication and collaboration throughout the AV supply chain. As a trusted partner, Promethean is leading the charge with this, adapting strategies and processes, and above all, supporting both schools and partners every step of the way.
