Philips PDS revolutionises meetings at HARFID

Philips Professional Display Solutions and integration specialist, Bimagotec, bring a touch of class to HARFID’s HQ, creating new levels of collaboration and enhanced presentation abilities using 26 LED and interactive display installations including videowalls and touchscreen installations

Located in Essen, a picturesque former mining town, just north of Dusseldorf, HARFID is one of the fastest growing and most reputable construction

busi-

nesses in Germany, serving cus- tomers in the areas of structural engineering, residential home building, department store de- velopment, commercial con- structions, and civil engineering work.

From humble beginnings in 2008, two years before the city was awarded the prestigious Eu- ropean Capital of Culture of the Year award, the family run busi- ness has evolved and expanded greatly, with its skills and exper- tise represented across the city – including Germany’s largest and most modern shopping cen- tre, the Limbecker Platz in Es- sen, covering more than 75,000 square metres. Today, the company employs over 250 staff – hailed by the company as its greatest assets – each with many years of expe- rience in construction, and fully committed to successfully, sus- tainably and efficiently serving and implementing their custom- ers’ dreams and expectations. Whether it’s a grand shopping centre or residential apartments, HARFID brings the necessary know-how for further projects and new lucrative business ar- eas in the areas of project man- agement and architecture.

The challenge

As an innovator in the construc- tion industry, HARFID has fast gained the reputation as a fu- ture-driven company that inte- grates the latest technology in each step it takes. Having the correct tools at its HQ, while at the same time portraying a good impression to visitors and pros- pected clients – one that closely aligns deep within the compa- ny’s foundations – is important. Every project is created digital- ly using Building Information Modelling (BIM) – a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility – and complex custom software that allows each team member to assess, create and deliver on their expertise before construction starts in the real world. With such a large team, HAR- FID needed a solution at its of- fices to help the team communi- cate and collaborate in an agile method, while also being able to successfully demonstrate de- signs and functionality to their stakeholders.

The solution

To make the HARFID vision a reality, the company turned to local AV integration specialist, Bimagotec, together with Philips Professional Display Solutions, to create the perfect custom solution.

Using vast levels of combined experience and knowledge in this area, a range of 26 of Philips Professional Display Solutions’ LED and interactive LCD dis- plays were selected and installed throughout the offices. Each was chosen in order to allow staff to

unleash their imaginations

and bring their designs to life, by providing clearer visibility, allowing for faster client approv- als for projects, and creating a ‘wow-factor’ first impression. Marking a significant mile- stone, a gigantic super-bright LED videowall from Philips PDS’ brand new range, comprising eight 65-inch displays was set up in the common room to play promotional, branding and am- bient content. The installation of this latest Philips LED tech- nology is the first in the country, having been launched and made available earlier this year. The eight LED displays for the videowall were installed along- side each other in portrait mode, creating a spectacular, bezel free, high-impact wide-viewing complete solution. In addition, 10 Android-powered Philips T-line 65”–55” touchscreen displays were also installed throughout the company’s meet- ing rooms in order to ensure col- laboration and productivity are maximised.

These multi-touch profes- sional displays were the perfect choice for HARFID staff, offering 4K UHD picture performance, multi-finger, multi-user applica- tions, allowing for multiple users on a single screen.

Information displays were also installed throughout the office to better connect each team mem- ber.

Control

Using Philips Professional Dis- play Solutions’ control and man- agement software, CMND, each display has been linked into HARFID’s custom CMS – allow- ing team members to create and share their work on any display wirelessly or by cable, while any updates or problems can be monitored, managed and re- solved remotely.

MRSA and E. coli were blocked. Chief Commercial Officer of ZetaDisplay Laila Hede Jensen explains: “We are beginning to deploy solutions globally which are enabling retailers, offices and other shared spaces to mitigate risk for the teams and customers using them. A big area of concern are touchscreens and how they are better protected against trans- mitting surface bacteria. This new partnership enables us to retrospectively fit existing touch- screens and produce new dis- plays which offer peace of mind for the user and the business.” “It has never been more criti- cal to deploy intelligent signage solutions with the right software to enable rapid communication of vital messaging. This new solu- tion is part of a portfolio we are working on with our clients world- wide to deliver solutions to queue management, maintaining social distances and limiting interac- tions in all public environments. This new touchscreen surface is rapid to deploy on a mass scale.”
