affected with great uncertainty for the recovery. Automotive was already before this crisis in a turn down scenario which this crisis is going to amplify, however
aviation was still
the driving force for IC in Europe. The outcome of this crisis is unknown as the sociology associated to the movement of individuals either by leisure trips or business is bound to be redefined at least for a period until confidence is established again. As a consequence yet to be understood how are going to be redefined the production programmes and associated supply needs, related with the orderbooks of the big companies such as Boeing and Airbus and associated engine OEMs.
Conclusions The overall assessment presents a tough scenario with uncertainty overriding conventional decision-making process and risk analysis methods. Companies are putting emphasis in protecting people and personnel at short-term, but cash protection must be also strictly scrutinized considering driving the business at close path monitoring and paying close attention of the crisis evolution in order to protect the mid term business. Communication among the supply chain and the customers becomes very relevant to orientate the future decisions whislt at the same time is understood that our customers might not yet be in the position to provide answers. Governmental policies and in particular European institutions as the EU must provide leadership and direction
implementing harmonized
directives and supporting the strategies for recovery in an effective and smart manner for companies to be supported. Finally, we look at the association as the gathering of companies with a common interest in this case supporting the Investment Casting Industry. This common interest is the meeting place for a mutual support and the EICF remains open of initiatives coming from their members to support the Industry.
When dealing with this question a couple of ideas of cooperative nature have been received and although there are still a majority which is unable to identify this route as potentially needed the EICF will maintain it as “open” as this perception might change with the crisis evolution. To the same aim the relation of the EICF with the ICI ; JFS ;
CICBA and others associations is also open with willingness to extend this cooperation in support of this industry Is time of perseverance and
sacrifice, but is also the time to redefine the future ahead of us and the Investment Casting shall be finding the best way to serve society and the persons related.
