Covid-19 Pandemic – EICF 30th International Conference Postponed to May 2021

t the time of writing these lines, the first thought and remind is for those whose health has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Our best wishes are with the families currently dealing with Covid-19 and other serious illnesses, particularly those who have lost a loved one. All of us in some way have been impacted by the uncertainties related to this dangerous virus.
Under this scenario and with health officials and sanitary
personnel working furiously to address and contain it, to talk about the EICF International Conference postponement might be seen as a little superficial and out of focus but it is still the EICF obligation to inform to the IC community and stakeholders about the decisions taken in respect.
The 30th EICF International Conference & Exhibition has been postponed this year and is bound to be held next year between the 9 to 12 of May 2021. Conference venue shall be the same, Festival House Bodensee by the Lake of Constance at the Austrian City of Bregenz. The Industry visit to Feinguss Blank GmbH shall be held on the 12 of May 2021.
In principle the conference programme and its structure is bound to be very similar of what was planned for year 2020, including the selected theme “Driving the Digital Transformation into Investment Casting”. Logically there will be an update of the different papers presented and in this sense in due time a “Call for Papers Review” shall be launched.
For those registered for the 2020 conference the refund
policy is in place with the option to request a full refund or request to have those funds applied to the Conference in 2021 (as a deposit). The latter shall be appreciated by the EICF as it will help to support the cash flow of the EICF in a year with no additional income but membership fees. For those selecting the deposit option there is a series of advantages for 2021 Conference.
The EICF is very conscious that beyond the health and
sanitary difficulties there are additional issues affecting business and individuals in relation with the operations sustainment of those business and associated work jobs. As

an association we feel the obligation to promote the power of getting together in support of this industry and be ready to play the role that our members and stakeholders might be demanding from us. Next pages shall be showing a first glance of how this crisis is impacting EICF members and what measures are they taking. However, as this is a dynamic situation, we will need to analyze regularly this evolution to understand the arising needs and what can be done as an association.
Also, it is worthy to mention that EICF and ICI are in close liaison to share ideas and actions that could result in support to the members.
Finally, the EICF is wishing you and your families to
stay safe and healthy following the recommendation and instructions given by the competent authorities, both for those staying at home or those at work supporting the essential activities. At the same time, we are remaining at your full disposition the EICF offices are open up and running with the aim to serve you. Please check regularly at the EICF web site, for update on the subject.
