Faircracker SPRING 2020

“Vision without execution is just hal- lucination.” Henry Ford 20/20 Vision, Focus on the Future was the theme for the NICA Business EXPO. As we settle into 2020 I would

like to introduce my successor, Don Delahoyde CCE. I passed the gavel to him on Feb 2, 2020 in Tampa. He is NICA’s future. Don began as a restauranteur in Ukiah, who first participated in the Redwood Empire Fair

in 1983. Over the years he has participated in fairs in five western states; operated food, beverage, and novelty stands for the Western Baseball League; and provided food service and catering as the Master Concessionaire for the Sonoma County Fair in Santa Rosa. His son Philip and daughter in law Ania have taken over the day to day operations of his mobile food concessions business. Don is taking on a new role of Grandpa soon, as Phil and Ania are expecting a daughter in 2020. Don served on the Western Fair Association (WFA) Board of Directors for many years including leadership as the Ser-

vice Member Representative. His service on the WFA Board culminated in his being the first elected Service Member President of the Board of Directors in 2012. During his WFA Presidency he encouraged the development of two $2,500 Scholarships (1 service member young

adult and one Fair member young adult). Today it is administered by the Blue-Ribbon Foundation. He also collaborated with NICA to design and distribute a refill cup program where 2% of the manufacturing price is donated to the Blue- Ribbon Foundation. Both are still successful today. His experience with the WFA offers him the ability to focus on de- tails while being able to see the larger picture. Two of his favorite charity events have been supporting 4-H and FFA programs by purchasing show animals and col-

lecting wine for the annual WFA Wine and Cheese Fundraiser. Don is truly dedicated to supporting the fairs and events industry. Don’s many career accomplishments provides him the ability to see the future and focus on the needs to get there. Together We Can!
