Faircracker SPRING 2020 Greetings from Zone 2 As we know, the first four months of the year is the time when Zone 2 Fairs in Florida are un-
derway. The January Fairs and some February Fairs have concluded but many others are hap- pening as I write this note. I hope I can visit a few in the upcoming months. There is always something each of us can learn from one another when we make those Fair visits. Plus, we get to say hello and support our friends in this great industry. As always, we wish the best of success to every Fair. Immediately following Fair season in Florida, we will all gather in St. Augustine for the combined
Florida Federation of Fairs meeting and the IAFE Zone 2 meeting. Save the dates of May 14-16, 2020. We are fortunate that this year’s IAFE Chair of the Board, Nancy Smith will attend our meeting as will Kate Turner of the IAFE staff. Nancy is the General Manager of the South Caroli- na State Fair so she is a Zone 2 member! We are all proud of Nancy and her great accomplish- ments. The news from the IAFE office is exciting. new ag activity book (see page 42). You can place an order for this great tool at FairsandEx-
pos.com. Also, members should be sure to visit the IAFE website to get the available toolkits with critical information about dealing with swine influenza, E. coli and Legionnaires’ disease. Keeping current with today’s issues and making sure it is available to our membership is a top priority for our IAFE leadership. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Follow Me to the IAFE campaign. The key focus on member activities and engage-
ment is to IGNITE the passion Fair folks have for their Fairs and this industry EXCEL in gaining knowledge to make our fairs the very best they can be UNITE not only our own communities, but the community of the Fair industry as well. We are stronger together!
Finally, save the dates for the 2020 IAFE convention in San Antonio, November 29-December 2. The theme is “Clear Vision.” We clearly hope to see you there!!
