BLACK HISTORY MONTH

O DANIEL BRANDON

ur celebration of the Black History Month was once more a success here at Ark Greenwich

Free School. From the dedication of our scholars to the support of everyone in the school community, it was apparent that ‘Fellowship’ represents more than a word on paper.

ADAM FARHAN STEFAN

Scholars from all ethnic backgrounds came together as a whole not only to celebrate the cultural wealth in the black community, but also to bring our attention back to current issues in a society where young people, particularly in London, are being categorised based on the colour of their skin, their family background or house income. On that evening, there was a clear sense of pride, fellowship, resilience, growth mindset and achievement that our pupils can be commended for. We had spoken words, drama pieces, musical interludes, fashion show…all this under the supervision of our staff who gave up their time during the weeks leading to this special occasion.

BHM Concert 2019 was another opportunity for our community to show what we are capable of when we work together as well as a great way to reveal talents and skills within our scholars, which go beyond what they learn academically.
