oes your horse suffer with sweet itch? Did your horse rub
its mane and tail away last summer? Does your horse suffer with dry itchy skin?
Spring into action this year before it’s too late by following our simple steps below!
Water logged and mud filled areas have mosquitoes and other biting insects larvae just waiting for your horse to roll in and transfer themselves onto the horse’s skin. Within one day, a horse can be so itchy that it can rub its mane and tail away! The first sign of sunshine on dampened ground can allow them to develop. Even in January, I have seen them flying about above wet ground or above water buckets.
Follow these simple steps throughout the winter months and get your equine ready for the summer
“The Natural Choice for Animal Skin Care”
Brush your horse regularly, paying particular attention to the roots of the mane and tail. To prevent breakage and encourage healthy skin, spray with ‘3 in 1 Tangle Free, Mane, Tail & Coat Shine’. It contains Lemongrass pure essential oil and natural conditioners, which help to rehydrate the skin and hair. Pre-spray the mane and tail root areas, then using a fine-tooth comb ease the thick white dandruff away.
Once a week throughout the winter and early spring, spray or sponge your horse all over with ‘The Ultimate 2 in 1 Fly Repellent & Skin Tonic’ paying particular attention to their ears, roots of the mane and tail, under the dock of the tail and sheath area.
As soon as possible bath with ‘Shower n’ Shine Shampoo or 2in1

Equine Intimate Body Wash’. Pure Lavender and Tea Tree essential oils are in both these products. Gentle on the skin, but effective in removing dandruff.
After bathing your horse, towel dry and then sponge all over with ‘The Ultimate 2 in 1 Fly Repellent & Skin Tonic’. Sponging helps to get the product onto their skin. Brush them all over with a body brush. Job done!
Six out of 10 sweet itch horses I have surveyed have a tickly cough when starting exercise. Just like humans having asthma and eczema, they are very common to have together. To help alleviate this problem use ‘5 in 1 Fresh H-Air’ spray onto the chest area five minutes before exercise.
‘5 in 1 Fresh H-Air’ acts as a natural air freshener for your horse. It has dust repelling conditioner in too.
TOP TIP
Spray liberally around the stable along with fly repellent onto any new bedding as this helps to stop biting insects using it as a breeding ground, giving your horse an insect free zone!
