Dyffryngwy Sir Picasso and Emma Burrow were heading to the capital hot on the heels of a HOYS win, a wedding and a major birthday for Emma. The Welsh section D gelding was purchased by Emma as a foal for a bargain price and has exceeded all her expectations.
“This was the title I always wanted him to win,” said an emotional Emma who only two weeks previously had got married and celebrated her 40th birthday.
“He never lets me down and is so reliable. I think he deserves a holiday now.”
Olympia was to be the last competitive outing for a number of the finalists in the class including second place Benbreac
of Croila the 13 year old will now concentrate on his stud duties.
In fourth was another stallion heading home to concentrate on his fatherly responsibilities. Shilstone Rocks North Westerly,
Heading home to Wales was Cadlanvalley Buzby who last year took the reserve title but this year took sixth. Ridden by his ever faithful young jockey Libby Grota,

Hot Fuss, owned by Laura Oughton-Auker, certainly gave the younger competitors a run for their money when, at the age of 32, he won the Anthony Evans Senior Showing and Dressage in-hand final.
The bay gelding took the Olympia record as the oldest horse ever to win there, but his youthful exuberance along with his keenness to get on with the job would have left many guessing what age he was.
SSADL ridden champion - Silvano KR and Gracie Catling
The ridden section is always competitive and each year sees the quality of entrants rise. Silvano KR, 20 years old, and Gracie Catling only dipped their toe into showing earlier this year as they are more usually found competing in dressage. “I’ve really enjoyed it and didn’t really know what to expect,” said 16 year old Gracie.
