Life Coaching Supports Change as Opportunity and Possibility

D

iet and stress reduction related to weight loss are essential issues many of us face. These issues challenge our dai-

ly activities and choices; however, these issues also offer opportunities for positive change. A point of clarity in the term diet, meaning first nutritionally sound eating and second weight loss. The irony being that if we choose to eat in

a nutritionally sound manner which includes not eating in excess, weight loss and management will follow.

Much of my Coaching around these very common issues includes increasing one’s awareness of daily choices impacting nutri- tion and stress. Gaining greater awareness and clarity is an initial step in making positive change. Much of our ability to be or become more mindful about our activities and choices related to diet and stress are related to our thoughts, internal dialogue or messages running un- checked through our mind continuously, without conscious interrup- tion. We need to intentionally induce conscious interruption.

Coaching helps create a process for mindfulness and conscious interruption of unchecked thoughts that interfere with things we may want to accomplish such as diet and stress reduction, as well as an overall greater sense of well-being. Becoming more conscious and intentional around these issues allows improvement in other areas of life, including fertility. Research reporting by Harvard University and US News and World Report suggest poor diet and stress disrupts hormones and disregulates normal function. Creating ways of ‘catch- ing’ unchecked thoughts, internal dialogue or messages and replacing them with more intentional internal dialogue and directed thoughts begins to calm the associated stress and allows for better daily decision-making, including nutrition and activities which support desired outcomes.

How might gaining greater awareness and clarity and becoming more mindful and intentional about your choices and decision-mak- ing be toward achieving your desired outcomes?
