faw, LA, and Colord Peppy, owned by Herman Slone, Jr, won the Open-Ranch division at USCHA’s November Sulphur Springs event.
Lloyd Cox, Marietta, OK,
was recognized as NCHA’s newest #1 All-Time Leading Rider as of November 14! His life- time earnings recently exceeded $9,231,942, surpassing Phil Rapp.
Losses
died at home October 18. Through the years, he served the horse in- dustry in many capacities. Most recently he was wrangler and a horse trainer for the movie indus- try. He also had been president of both SWTXCHA and ACHA and also a member of NCHA and AQHA. In 2003, he was inducted into the ACHA Open Hall of Fame. He is survived by wife, D’Ann, and other family.
Peggy Hightower, 83, Chap-
pell Hill, passed away October 22 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin High- tower, and is survived by son Faron Hightower, daughters Melissa Hightower, Tina Hodde, and Margaret Buchanan, more family and countless friends. When she was present at cuttings, and she was in the bleachers for decades, she cheered loudly for each contestant, whether she knew them or not! w
